No reviews? Not necessarily a red flag. 👀

Everyone starts somewhere, and we’re happy to host brand-new guests with new profiles.

But what about a guest who’s completed several Airbnb stays… and still has zero reviews? That’s when I start to wonder why. 🤔

Maybe there’s a completely innocent explanation. But after years of hosting, we’ve noticed a pattern — and it definitely makes us look a little closer before accepting the reservation.

Hosts, have you noticed this too? Does multiple stays + no reviews make you hesitate?

Do influencers really get free vacation rental stays? 👀

Sometimes! And I’m genuinely not opposed to collaborations.

But when you’re asking a small vacation rental business to give up hundreds—or sometimes thousands—of dollars in sellable nights, I have to evaluate it like any other marketing investment.

Followers, likes, views and reach are great.

But ultimately I want to know: did anyone book?

That’s why I’ve offered creators a pretty simple deal: book the stay, I’ll give you a unique discount code for your audience, and if the bookings you generate cover your stay, I’ll refund it.

Your stay becomes free.

So far, nobody has taken me up on it. 😂

I absolutely believe the right creator + the right property could make a fantastic partnership. I just think a collaboration should provide real value to BOTH businesses.

Wait… hosts can see the reviews YOU leave too? 👀

Yep.

When I’m considering a reservation, I’m not only able to see what previous hosts have said about a guest—I can also look at the reviews that guest has left for previous stays.

And to be very clear: one negative review would never be a red flag for me. Sometimes things go wrong, and guests should absolutely be able to leave an honest review about their experience.

What makes me look a little closer is a pattern.

The guest I talk about in this video had received great reviews from his previous hosts—but the reviews he left behind were consistently very negative.

As a small vacation rental business, that tells me we simply might not be a good fit for each other.

Interestingly, when I explained why I wasn’t comfortable accepting the reservation, he was completely understanding.

Just another little peek at what hosts can see on our side of the booking process. 👀

One of my most frustrating 4-star reviews… and it could have been solved with one message. 😅

A guest told us after her stay that the fire pit had no propane.

Except it did.

And even if the tank HAD been empty, we keep a spare ready to go.

I’d also checked in after arrival to make sure everything was going well—and never heard about a problem until the review.

As a vacation rental host, I don’t expect every stay to be perfect. Things happen. Equipment acts up. Propane runs out. We get it.

But please give your host the opportunity to help while you’re still there.

We can fix a lot of things.

We just can’t fix something we don’t know about. ❤️

Consider this your reminder to close the laptop, put down the phone and go do something that makes you happy this weekend.

For us, that usually means getting outside—and a peaceful walk through Red Rock State Park in Sedona is a pretty great place to start. ❤️
