40,000 runners own the city Sunday morning. 🏃

The 51st Marine Corps Marathon steps off Sunday, Oct 25 at 7:20 AM in Arlington, runs through Georgetown and the National Mall, and finishes at the Marine Corps War Memorial. DC streets close 5:30 AM–3 PM — so plan around it. Or better: stay for it.

Then at 2 PM, the 30th annual Del Ray Halloween Parade takes over Mount Vernon Avenue in Alexandria — kids, pets, and decorated strollers, free to watch.

One weekend, two free DC spectacles — and a river house to come home to. Haiku River House sits on the Potomac in Fort Washington, 18 minutes from DC. 5 bedrooms, sleeps 10. River fog in the morning, the city when you want it. Forecast: sunny, mid-60s — built for spectating.

Opening Day is a Wednesday. Thanksgiving weekend is the real prize. 🦃

Snowshoe opens Wed Nov 25 (weather permitting) — and the weekend right after is stacked: the 11th Annual Turkey Shoot Nov 26–27, the Turkey Trek 5K Nov 27, and the Village Tree Lighting Nov 28.

Our basecamp: Allegheny Springs 328-330 — true ski-in/ski-out in Snowshoe Village, about 200 yards from the Ballhooter Lift. Sleeps 10, no resort fee.
