Our Lake is full, a little green ….but...here is the reason & I Will say I am living off alegra. Come help stir the water up.
Many of you have asked us why Lake Gregory is looking a little green this week. This is a great question! You may have simultaneously noticed that there has been an aggressive pollen bloom going on in the mountains. Everywhere you look you see cars and sidewalks covered in it. Well...so is our lake. A fine layer of pollen has covered the surface of the lake and it will take a bit of time to settle. It doesn't affect the water quality at all, but it certainly does affect the color when the pollen count is this high.
It might sound silly, but there are two big ways you all can help get it back to its normal color; Come swimming in the lake and also use paddle boards, boats and kayaks around the lake. The more we stir up that pollen, and keep it from remaining on the surface, the more quickly it settles, and the color of our lake becomes more blue.
The water quality here at Lake Gregory is tested regularly and rigorously to meet very strict standards for people swimming. So while it may be a slightly different hue for a while, we can all still safely enjoy using it and fishing out of it.
