The Hotel St. Nicholas

We are a boutique independently owned historic hotel and former hospital built in 1898 located in the Cripple Creek & Victor historic district.

We also house The Boiler Room Tavern and The Grand Peak Spa. See our website for more information. The hotel began as the St. Nicholas Hospital. Today, The Boiler Room Tavern and The Grand Peak Spa reside in her walls.

We are in that sweet spot where summer is almost over and fall has not fully kicked in. Temps are in the low 70s during the day, in the 40s at night, with the occasional afternoon shower… enjoying the double rainbow over the mine and of course it’s Colorado so the sun is out and the rain is coming down. If you haven’t made plans for this weekend, Cruise Above the Clouds is coming through and the following weekend we have Mt Pisgah Speaks, get your tickets soon as some of the times have already sold out! Plus start making your leaf peeping plans, we are starting to see the first signs of the leaves turning!

So many things are coming this next month or two… we’re getting ready to send out our Fall Newsletter tomorrow, double checking and making sure we added as many local events as possible! Don’t forget fall colors will be here soon, and we will have the map link in our newsletter so that you can try and make some plans for when you come up here and see our gorgeous colors (suggest weekdays, the weekend traffic will be a lot).

View from the hotel this evening… And a little update on weather coming into the new week. If you feel like you need to escape the heat come on up to the mountains. It’s probably at least 20° cooler, and certainly much cooler at night!

While the fireworks were canceled, nature did give us a show for the evening of the fourth! Thank you to everyone that has been up for the last two weekends between Donkey Derby Days and the Fourth of July weekend. If you need to beat the heat, head on up to Cripple Creek… it’s running about the mid 70s up here!
