The Region 12 Hoop Shoot team has lost a great friend, and mentor. Lester Collins invested more than 40 years into the lives of children in our communities, through Hoop Shoot. He trained many of us and guided us all. He served more than 12 years as the SE Reg 12 Director. He was a man of integrity who gave of himself continuously.

Lester passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2026. He was a member of Decatur Elks Lodge # 655 for 42 years. He was a past Exalted Ruler, PDDGER, PSP of the AL Elks Association ; Member of Elks National Hoop Shoot Hall of Fame, avid Alabama fan, Atlanta Braves fan, and loved to camp with his friends.

Our hearts and prayers go out to his wife and partner in everything , Denise.
We all love you!

Lester’s legacy will live on in the many lives he touched. So many kids, families, and Elks are better today for having known such a great man.
