Welcome to The Olde Mill Inn Bed and Breakfast (and Mill!)

This is a very special, historic late 1800s home with an old grist mill - one of the last left in Tennessee... The Olde Mill Inn is a lovely, first-class bed and breakfast snuggled in East Tennessee's beautiful Cumberland Mountains - next to a soothing creek fed from a spring inside a mountain cave. Our building is the oldest standing structure in the town; part of it is a log cabin originally built in the 1700s. The quaint, historic town of Cumberland Gap offers a unique slice of Americana and is located next to the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park with its miles and miles of hiking trails, caves, and historic attractions. Our eight large, comfortable, uniquely decorated guest rooms (each with its own private bath) help make the Bed and Breakfast a perfect place for a quiet, secluded getaway - for relaxation, romance or adventure. The Olde Mill Inn Bed and Breakfast is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. No traffic, no crowds... just lots of nature, hiking, antique shops and rest for your body and soul.

CUMBERLAND GAP, TENNESSEE — During the Civil War, Cumberland Gap served as a strategic mountain gateway contested by Union and Confederate forces, who occupied and fortified the surrounding heights as both armies fought for control of this vital passage between Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia.

Today the charming town consists of coffee shops, at least one antique store, a one-room bicycle museum, an excellent restaurant that sadly ran out of peach/blueberry cobbler Thursday night and a B&B by a brook. CUMBERLAND GAP, TENNESSEE: A SCOUTING REPORT — I had a blast exploring this town — population 340 if you count the dogs and cats — and the surrounding area, including the historic Cumberland Gap (tramped by native Americans, early settlers, soldiers) and the forts (soldier graffiti, earthworks) high above the town used by both armies.

Easily confused, I often didn't know which state I occupied — Virginia? Tennessee? Kentucky? — so the Google thing came in handy. Fabulous one-room bicycle museum in Cumberland Gap, where I enjoyed the Wagyu burgers (and superb service) at Nineteen19 Grill and Bar. (Sadly, they ran out of the peach/blueberry cobbler.)

Consider a stay at the Olde Mill Inn Bed & Breakfast. The view of the mountain from the Pinnacle Room — and the breakfast (and fine company at long table) — made this way-too-short trip worth it. Town could charm hide off a snake.

Get the chicken panini and Scottish Fling coffee (includes caramel, hazelnut) at Gap Creek Coffee House and enjoy the brook — it sure did a lot of babbling — and spectacular view. You’ll thank me later.

Early-morning fog resting in the folds of landscape spectacular. Frosty weather put big smile on my mug. Multiple ways to hike to historic gap. Put one in your planner.

I met an ex-University of Tennessee walk-on punter named Matthew and his Volunteer-rooting pals on my hike. But I did not hold that against them. Only negative: Struggled adjusting to Eastern Time Zone.

Please join us in sending up many prayers for our Gap neighbors. And if you’re available on the 29th, definitely come to town for this traditional soup beans and cornbread supper fundraiser!

Like many of you, we were taken aback by recent news from Singler’s Barbershop's Anthony Singler. The Hoffeditz and Singler families have always supported the town of Cumberland Gap, the Guardians of the Gap, and many other regional charities and initiatives. They are the best among us.

That's why in their time of need, we want to step up for them. Join the Guardians of the Gap as we hold a soup bean and cornbread supper at the The Olde Church Events Center and Parsonage Guest House on Thursday, October 29, 2026 from 5pm-7pm to benefit Anthony Singler. All donations will go directly to the Singler family. Takeout will be available, and we'll even throw in a dessert and drink while you are at. Let us take dinner worries off of your mind next week as we help a neighbor together!
