New Edition to the Broken Fiddle Crew this year.
After four years Double Wide shown he was capable and willing to help a brotha out. Just in time I'd say. With the festival around the corner and all the other Crew decided go and do something really weird and "adult". Can't blame them though. For now I got Double Wide.

I know, I know... It's an AT hostel but I'll tell ya one thing ... When random travelers show it's hard to not mention.
There are just around 40 ppl in this world who completed the CT and when they randomly show up at my spot ya have to make notice. This couple is number 32 and number 33 to complete the Florida Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail (CT). Obviously I was giddy enough to share my Jameson. I've only had one other come thru in a random surprise but these two were a highlight of the evening. So here is to the 32 and 33. So happy to have met ya.

The Appalachian Trail Hostels and are collaborating this year along the trail. Not all hostels but the lucky few. If you have hiked north from Springer this far you may have already heard about this application. If not, here's a tid bit right here.
The recipient of the first gifted night at the Broken Fiddle couldn't have gone to a well deserving hiker. This is Cous Cous. He blasted into Damascus with a 42 mile day from Watauga Lake. A younger gent that is on quiet a budget journey we were happy to share the knowledge of this journey tracking app.
The bandanas and hiker gifts are starting to get out there among the northern "earlier" hikers.
We are happy to be a partner in sharing this exciting app. Along your journey you share what you want and hell even at the end they are able to compile a very well put together coffee table book of photos and excerpts. These books are top notch quality! Best of luck hikers and we will see ya out there.

We are now officially hosting the AT Class of 2026
The Broken Fiddle Hostel is now OPEN
Many new additions and options await here in the great trail town of Damascus, VA.
Treehouse returns with the help of Pippie to create new memories along the trail.
Thanks to the and we have been gifted some new space aged drinking receptacles. Good for both hot and cold bevies.
We are here awaiting that sweet hiker smell y'all bring with ya. Hope to see ya along the way.

2016- Mississippi
2017- AT
2019- FT (where we officially met, hiked and finished)
2025- Came to the Fiddle and learned it was where I been
Stayed a night in the bunks and supported the biz

It has come to my attention that I have not posted a "re-opening" post on this platform.
Well, now that Blazer and I (Treehouse) has finished the CT and are both back in the Eastern Time Zone, I suppose I better say that the Broken Fiddle is ready to accept new guests for the Fall season.
If you are section hiking, flip flopping, or true Sobos we are here for ya until December. If you are traveling via bicycle or BDR, we are here for ya. Just remember to give us a call or text @ 276-608-1055... And it best not be before 9 AM.

So sorry for the AT hikers that want to stay or swing thru Damascus and stay at the Fiddle. I had to go do a lil exploring myself.

Just welcoming the newest Broken Fiddle Crew member to page.
This is Critter. He's out there hiking again. If you run into him tell him we said what's up.
If you came thru or visited us during pre trail days, trail days or even post trail days you prob saw him working in the backyard or taking a smoke break.
He hiked ALL the AT last year except Big K and decided to go again.
Even though he vortexed the hell out of Damascus he is back out there somewhere... I could t tell ya because he does not hike with a phone.
He helped with the new "Critter Cave" and finally earned his "Go'n Creek'n" shirt by jumping into Dismal Falls on the journey north. Best of luck out there brotha and we'll see next time around.

After the parade there is always the backyard party at the Fiddle. Even though we do it all weekend there is always something special about the Saturday afternoon. The return of many coming traditions with Wanderlost living the life trail and cooking up mad feasts for the guests/hikers to the 21' Forty Hands we do like to have quite the reunion here.
Soooo many peeps that the shout outs are entirely too long but you all know there will be a spot in my heart for each and everyone of you that believe in the progression of the Broken Fiddle.
Here is to many more shenanigans.
