Nothing makes us happier than when a guest leaves a note that reminds us why we do this.

The Walsh family recently stayed at Palm Paradise and left the sweetest message in our guest book. They described the villa as a “second home” and said it was the perfect base for their Orlando holiday. Reading words like that genuinely means the world to us.

What many people do not see is that holiday villa isn’t just a house. It’s the families who choose to stay there, fill it with laughter, create memories, and treat it with the same care and respect that they would their own home. Guests like the Walsh family are the reason Palm Paradise continues to be such a special and amazing place.

To the Walsh family, thank you for trusting us with your family holiday and for taking the time to leave such kind words. We are incredibly grateful for wonderful guests like you. Without families like yours, Palm Paradise wouldn’t be the welcoming home-away-from-home that it has become for so many visitors over the years.

We’ll have the kettle hot ready for your next visit. ☀️🏡❤️

So let’s talk the rash

🏰 The Disney Rash: The Souvenir Nobody Wants to Bring Home 😅
If you’ve ever spent a full day at Disney, Universal, or one of Florida’s amazing theme parks and noticed a red rash appearing around your ankles and lower legs, don’t panic. You’re definitely not the first person it’s happened to.
In fact, there’s even a nickname for it: “Disney Rash”.
I recently came across a photo of it and was surprised by how many visitors experience it during their Florida holidays.
Disney Rash is actually a condition called Exercise Induced Vasculitis. It sounds scary, but in most cases it is harmless and clears up on its own.
Why Does It Happen? ☀️🚶
Florida heat + humidity + 15,000 to 25,000 steps a day + standing in queues = the perfect recipe.
After spending hours walking around the parks, some people develop red patches or spots on their lower legs and ankles. It’s basically your legs saying:
“I loved the rides, but I’m filing a formal complaint about the walking!” 😂
Common Symptoms
🔴 Red spots or patches on the lower legs
🦵 Mild swelling around the ankles
🔥 A burning or itchy sensation
☀️ Skin that feels warm to the touch
The funny thing is that the skin covered by socks often stays completely normal, leaving a very obvious pattern.
How To Avoid It
💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day
👟 Wear comfortable, supportive walking shoes
🧦 Consider light compression socks if you’re prone to swelling
🪑 Take regular breaks and get off your feet
🏊 Mix park days with pool days
🛋️ Put your feet up when you get back to your villa
What To Do If You Get It
Most cases disappear within a few days.
Helpful remedies include:
✅ Rest
✅ Elevating your legs
✅ Staying hydrated
✅ Cool compresses
✅ Light compression socks
If the rash becomes severe, painful, or is accompanied by fever or other symptoms, it’s always worth speaking with a healthcare professional.
My Best Florida Holiday Tip
Don’t try to do everything in one day.
One of the biggest mistakes visitors make is scheduling park days back-to-back to back. Florida is hot, the parks are huge, and your body needs a break.
Spend a day at the parks, then enjoy a slower day by the pool. Trust me, you will enjoy your holiday far more and you should probably have more energy for those early morning rope drops! 🎢☀️
Have you ever had Disney Rash during a Florida holiday? Let me know in the comments. I would love to hear your tips and experiences.

Planning a family trip to Orlando? One thing you might not anticipate is how the weather can change your plans. Florida is known for its sunny days, but don't forget the infamous afternoon thunderstorms, especially in the summer months. When you're out at the parks, it's not unusual for the skies to open up right when you're about to hop on a ride. A quick tip is to pack a lightweight poncho for each family member in your bag. They fold up small and can save your day from turning soggy. Plus, when the rain passes, you'll often find the parks are less crowded as people seek shelter, so you might just score a shorter wait time for those rides you’ve been dreaming about. And while you’re enjoying the parks, remember that the prices for snacks can add up quicker than you think. Having a villa with a kitchen lets you whip up breakfast before heading out or grab some groceries to make sandwiches for lunch. Trust me, your wallet will thank you!

If you're planning on driving around Orlando, you might find the roads a bit different from what you're used to back home. For starters, the highways are quite expansive, which can be a bit daunting. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself on a toll road or two—always good to have some change handy or set up an easy pass system. And while you're navigating, keep an eye out for those Florida drivers; they can be a bit more aggressive than what you might expect. Another thing to consider is the cost of food. Eating at theme parks can quickly drain your budget, so it might be wise to plan a few meals at your villa. With a private kitchen, you can enjoy a lovely family dinner without the chaos of a restaurant. Plus, nothing beats a relaxing evening by your own pool after a long day!

As you prepare for your Orlando adventure, don’t overlook the importance of getting appropriate health insurance for your trip. While we all hope for smooth sailing, accidents can happen, and healthcare in the States can be quite costly without proper coverage. It might be worth checking if your current policy offers any international coverage or if you need to purchase a travel plan. Also, ensure your kids are up to date on their vaccinations, just in case you plan to visit any animal parks or interactive experiences. And speaking of experiences, if your family enjoys cooking, renting a villa means you can enjoy meals together, and having that kitchen space can help keep everyone happy. It’s also a great way to save money while indulging in some local flavours by preparing a meal with ingredients from nearby markets. Orlando is home to many cultural experiences, and nothing beats enjoying them in your own space.

Well, Florida decided to keep us on our toes today! 🌎😳

For those planning their Orlando holidays, you’ll be pleased to know that Mickey is still standing, the pools are still full, and nobody has floated off into the Atlantic.

A small earthquake was felt across parts of Central Florida this morning. For many residents, the biggest challenge was deciding whether it was an earthquake, a passing truck, or too much coffee.

As a Brit living in Florida, I can honestly say I expected hurricanes, alligators, and love bugs. Earthquakes were not on my bingo card!

Did anyone else feel it, or was I the only one checking whether the washing machine was on spin cycle? 🤣🤣😝

Planning a trip to Orlando soon? One thing you might want to keep in mind is the weather—especially if you're coming from the UK or Ireland. Florida is known for its sunny disposition, but those afternoon thunderstorms can catch you off guard. They often roll in like clockwork, so having a plan B is wise. I always recommend bringing a light poncho or a small umbrella in your bag. Just when you think you’re safe, here comes a downpour! ☔ Plus, if you’re staying in a villa, you can easily duck inside and wait it out, maybe even take a dip in your private pool afterward!

And don’t forget about the importance of hydration. Staying well-watered is crucial, especially when you're out exploring the parks. Water bottles are a must; you can refill them at various spots around the parks to save a few bucks. It’s amazing how those little costs can add up. Enjoy your trip!

So, you’re all set for your Orlando adventure, but have you thought about the food? Eating out can really add up, especially if you have a family in tow. Many families don’t realize that the average meal at a theme park can cost around $15 to $20 per person. That’s quite a hit if everyone’s hungry! 😅 One of the perks of staying in a villa is having a kitchen at your disposal. You can whip up breakfast and pack snacks for the parks, which not only saves money but also gives you a chance to enjoy some home-cooked meals after a long day of fun. Plus, who doesn’t love a good pancake breakfast before heading out to tackle the rides? 🥞

And keep an eye on those local grocery stores. You can often find great deals on snacks and drinks. Your wallet will thank you later!

Driving around Orlando can be a bit of a learning curve for those used to UK roads. The first thing to remember is that you’ll be on the opposite side of the road, and those intersections can be a bit tricky at times. I always advise families to get a GPS or use a navigation app. It’s not just about directions; traffic patterns can change depending on the time of day, especially around the parks. 🚗

Also, factor in parking costs at the attractions. They can catch you by surprise if you’re not prepared. Instead of taking a taxi or rideshare, having your own vehicle means you can easily make the drive back to your villa for a mid-day break. Imagine avoiding the hustle and bustle of hotel lobbies, and instead, relaxing in your own space. You can even toss on a load of laundry while the kids enjoy the pool! 🏊

As you plan your Orlando adventure, one thing to keep in mind is the weather. Florida is known for its sunshine, which is fantastic, but it can be deceivingly hot, especially in the summer months. Expect temperatures to soar into the high 30s Celsius (or mid-90s Fahrenheit). Make sure to pack plenty of sunscreen and stay hydrated, especially if you’re visiting the parks. A tip from a seasoned Florida driver: always have a cooler with water bottles in your car. After a long day at the Magic Kingdom, nothing beats a refreshing drink on your way back to your villa. And speaking of villas, having your own space with a private pool can be a game changer after a busy day—no need to share the pool with strangers! 🏊‍♂️

Navigating the food scene in Orlando can be quite the treat, but it can also surprise your wallet. While there are plenty of fast food options that are easy on the budget, don’t miss out on the local dining experiences. A family favourite is the classic diner experience—think hearty breakfasts with stacks of pancakes, perfect fuel for a day at the parks. And if you have a villa with a kitchen, you might want to prepare a few meals yourself. Grocery stores like Publix or Walmart offer everything from fresh produce to ready meals. It’s a great way to save some cash while enjoying quality family time. 🍽️ Just remember to try a few local delicacies; you won’t regret indulging in some Key lime pie!

Planning your driving routes around Orlando can make or break your holiday experience. The roads can get busy, especially during peak tourist seasons. It’s wise to download a navigation app that accounts for real-time traffic. The I-4 can turn into a parking lot, particularly near the parks, so consider alternate routes. Also, parking fees at the parks can add up, so look into park hopping options that allow you to explore multiple parks without the hassle of paying for parking each time. And here’s a cheeky tip: while it’s tempting to grab a breakfast burrito on the go, nothing beats enjoying a leisurely breakfast at your villa before heading out. You can whip up some eggs and bacon while the kids splash in the pool—now that’s a morning well spent! ☀️

Planning a family holiday to Orlando? One of the first things to consider is the weather. Florida is known for its sunshine, but don’t forget about those sudden rain showers that pop up in the summer months. It’s always a good idea to pack a lightweight poncho or a small umbrella, just in case! And remember, the humidity can be a bit of a shock for us Brits and Irish, so staying hydrated is key. You’ll definitely want to enjoy those long days at the theme parks, especially with the kids excited to meet their favourite characters! ☀️

When it comes to dining, don’t be surprised by the portion sizes. You might find that sharing a meal is not only practical but also a great way to save some dollars. And speaking of dollars, it’s wise to keep an eye on your budget. Theme park prices can add up quickly, so consider packing a few snacks to keep the little ones happy without breaking the bank. Staying in a villa means you can whip up breakfast or prepare a picnic for the parks, which is a fantastic way to save while enjoying some family time.

As you prepare for your Orlando adventure, let’s talk about driving. If you’re renting a car, remember that Florida roads can be a bit different from what you’re used to in the UK and Ireland. The speed limits can be higher and roundabouts are often less common. Familiarise yourself with the road signs and don’t forget that driving is on the right side of the road! 🚗

You’ll also want to plan your trips to the parks strategically. Traffic can be a nightmare during peak hours, so early mornings might be your best bet. Plus, parking at the parks can be pricey, so opt for a villa with ample space to avoid hotel chaos and enjoy a more relaxed start to your day. A little planning goes a long way, and it means more time for fun!

Lastly, let’s chat about health insurance. It’s essential to make sure you have adequate coverage while you’re in the States. Medical costs can be quite surprising if you’re not prepared. Check if your policy covers overseas travel and consider additional insurance if needed. It’s better to be safe than sorry, especially if you plan to enjoy all the thrilling rides and activities Orlando has to offer! 🎢

And don’t forget, if you’re staying in a villa, you’ll have the luxury of your own kitchen to prepare meals, which can be a real lifesaver if someone’s feeling under the weather. Plus, you can keep an eye on the kids while whipping up a snack. Taking some time to think about these things now will ensure your holiday is smooth and enjoyable.

🏰✨ LISTEN UP DISNEY FAMILIES YOUR STROLLER MIGHT GET YOU TURNED AWAY AT THE GATE AND I AM NOT PLAYING ✨🏰

Hello Florida local here 🌴 and I have watched approximately one million families show up to Disney World with the wrong stroller setup and get absolutely wrecked by a Cast Member at the front gate before they even see Mickey's ears. I am going to give you my best advice . Grab your coffee ☕ and read this before you pack the car.

🚨 THE SIZE RULE MEASURE YOUR STROLLER TONIGHT, NOT IN THE PARKING LOT 🚨

Your stroller must be no wider than 31 inches and no longer than 52 inches. That is the law of the land at Disney. Not a suggestion. Not a guideline. THE LAW. And in 2026 they are enforcing it harder than I have ever seen. Cast Members will physically eyeball your rig and if it looks suspect they will pull out a measuring tape like they are filming an episode of Wheel of Fortune. 😂

Pro tip: Measure at home. Include any cup holder attachments, snack trays, parent organizers, or that giant sun canopy you bolted on. Accessories can push you over the limit and they may ask you to remove them at the gate. Learn from the people ahead of you in line who are currently having a very bad morning.

🪣 THE WAGON SITUATION READ THIS TWICE 🪣

Oh sweet summer tourist. You saw that gorgeous Wonderfold wagon online or in Walmart. Six kids piled in, snacks everywhere, all the kids are happy and no one is crying. You thought that is our family. You bought it. You loaded it up.

I am so sorry. 💔

Disney bans stroller wagons entirely. That includes push and pull wagons and anything designed to function like one. Even if it somehow fits within the size limits, if it looks like a wagon, it is not allowed.

Popular wagons like the Wonderfold and Radio Flyer will not make the cut. Do not test them. Do not try to argue with the Cast Member. They have heard every argument known to man and they are unmoved. They are getting paid either way and you are standing in 100 degree Florida heat with four kids and no plan or a long walk back to the tram. 😅

The only exception? Stroller wagons are not permitted unless medically necessary. If you have a documented medical need, Disney will work with you. But my kids refuse to walk is not a medical diagnosis, unfortunately. Believe me, I have asked over and over

✅ WHAT IS ACTUALLY ALLOWED

Double strollers are allowed as long as they fit within the size limits. So you can still haul both your little ones in style, just make sure that double wide is under “31 inches”. Yes, that is narrow. Yes, it is doable. Tons of great options out there.

Things to look for in a Disney stroller according to those of us who have done this a few dozen times:

👉 Folds fast. You will fold and unfold this thing constantly on buses, monorail, and trams. If your stroller requires a YouTube tutorial to collapse, you will be that person blocking the bus door while everyone silently judges you. We have all been there. Do not be that person.

👉 Lightweight. You are already carrying 47 pounds of snacks, sunscreen, ponchos, and princess dresses. Your stroller should not weigh more than your toddler.

👉 Label it. Stroller parking at Disney is basically a sea of black strollers and yours will disappear into it like a sock in a dryer. Write your name on it, tie a ribbon, attach a ribbon your UTD something.

🛒 FORGOT TO PLAN AHEAD? DISNEY RENTS THEM 🛒

Disney World and Disneyland both offer single and double stroller rentals right near the park entrance. Is it the most comfortable stroller on earth? No. Will it get the job done? Absolutely. No shame in that game.

⚠️ ONE MORE THING NO STROLLER ZONES ARE EXPANDING ⚠️

Guests are starting to notice expanded no stroller zones throughout the parks. At high traffic locations, indoor spaces, and in some queues, you must park your stroller before entering. This is normal and fine. There are stroller parking areas all over the parks. Just do not leave your valuables in it. Disney is magical but it is still a public place with a lot of strangers. 😄

TLDR for the people who skipped to the bottom 👇

✅ Stroller: yes, under 31 inches wide and 52 inches long
❌ Wagons: absolutely not, do not even try
❌ Stroller wagons like Wonderfold and Radio Flyer: banned, no exceptions unless medical
✅ Double strollers: yes if they fit the size rule
✅ Rentals available if you need them
📏 Measure your stroller BEFORE you leave home

Go have the most magical trip of your life. Drink the Dole Whip. Cry at the fireworks like every other adult does. You earned it. 🎆🍍❤️

Drop your stroller questions below and I will do my best to help! Been going to this park since before some of you were born. 😂
