🌀 HURRICANE SEASON – PART 3

🏡 During the Storm — 4 Things Guests Should Know

1️⃣ CLOSE ALL INTERIOR DOORS 🚪
If strong hurricane-force winds are expected, keep exterior doors / windows firmly closed and close the interior doors too. Research has shown that closing interior doors can help reduce pressure on the roof if a window or exterior door is breached.

2️⃣ FILL A BATHTUB WITH WATER 🛁
Before the storm arrives, filling a bathtub with water gives you a useful emergency supply. This is not drinking water, but it can be used for flushing toilets or basic washing if water service is interrupted.

3️⃣ KEEP DRINKING WATER SEPARATE 💧
Have plenty of bottled drinking water available. After severe storms, authorities can occasionally issue a boil-water notice, so don’t assume tap water is safe to drink if an advisory has been issued.

4️⃣ DON’T OPEN DOORS TO “CHECK” THE WEATHER 🌬️
Stay safely inside during the storm and keep doors and windows closed. A sudden calm doesn’t necessarily mean the storm has finished — conditions can deteriorate again quickly.

🌀 HURRICANE SEASON – PART 2

🏡 4 Simple Ways to Prepare

If a tropical storm or hurricane looks like it may affect Central Florida, there’s usually plenty of notice. A little preparation can make things much easier.

1️⃣ KEEP PHONES & DEVICES CHARGED 🔋
Charge phones, tablets and power banks. Temporary power outages can happen during severe weather, so it’s good to start with everything fully charged.

2️⃣ CHECK THE THEME PARKS 🎢
Disney, Universal and other attractions may change their hours or occasionally close if severe weather is expected. Check their official apps before setting off — and remember, your safety is more important than squeezing in one more ride!

3️⃣ STOCK A FEW ESSENTIALS & SOME CASH 💵
Have drinking water, easy-to-prepare food, snacks, medications and a flashlight handy. It’s also sensible to have some cash, as card machines and ATMs may not work during a power or internet outage.

4️⃣ SECURE OUTDOOR ITEMS 🌴
If strong winds are forecast, patio furniture and other loose outdoor items may need to be brought inside or secured.

🌀 FLORIDA HURRICANE SEASON – SHOULD YOU WORRY ABOUT YOUR HOLIDAY? 🌴☀️

We’re sometimes asked whether it’s safe to visit Florida during hurricane season. The good news is that millions of visitors enjoy wonderful Florida holidays throughout these months — and there are some very good reasons not to panic. 💙

1️⃣ Hurricanes don’t arrive without warning
Modern weather forecasting means tropical systems are tracked for days in advance. There is normally plenty of time to prepare and make sensible decisions if a storm could affect Central Florida.

2️⃣ We’re inland – not on the coast
Pilgrims Paradise is in the Orlando/ChampionsGate area of Central Florida. We don’t face the same storm-surge risk as Florida’s coastal communities.

3️⃣ Florida is VERY prepared
Hurricanes are something Florida plans for. Emergency services, local authorities, theme parks and utility companies all have established procedures for severe weather.

4️⃣ A hurricane somewhere in Florida doesn’t mean Orlando is affected
Florida is a BIG state! A storm making headlines may be hundreds of miles away. Always look at the actual forecast for the area you’re visiting rather than the word “Florida” in a news report.

🌴 So should hurricane season stop you booking your Florida holiday?
For most visitors, no. Be informed, be prepared and keep an eye on the forecast — just as we do.

Little things that can make a BIG difference on your Florida holiday! 🌴☀️

We’ve welcomed British guests to Florida for over 12 years, and these are some of those handy tips you might not think about until you’re here! 👇

🔌 1. Bring a UK Extension Lead
Instead of buying lots of US travel adapters, bring a UK extension lead and plug it into one good-quality US adapter. You can then charge several UK devices together.
⚠️ Remember: an adapter changes the plug shape, not the voltage — always check your appliance says 100–240V before plugging it in.

🚗 2. Know Where You Parked!
Florida theme-park car parks are HUGE! Before walking away from your hire car, take a quick photo of the row/section sign or drop a pin on your phone. After a long Disney day, you’ll be very glad you did! 😂

💳 3. When Paying by Card, Choose DOLLARS
If a card machine gives you the choice between paying in GBP (£) or USD ($), choosing USD will usually let your own bank/card provider handle the conversion rather than accepting the retailer’s exchange rate. Check whether your card charges foreign transaction fees too.

⛈️ 4. Don’t Let a Florida Downpour Fool You!
That blue sky can turn into a tropical downpour very quickly — especially in summer! Pack a small poncho or lightweight rain jacket in your park bag. The good news? Florida rain can disappear almost as quickly as it arrives! ☀️

🇬🇧✈️🇺🇸 BRIT TRAVEL TIPS – PART 3
Little packing tricks that can save a BIG headache!

Travelling from the UK to Florida? Here are 3 simple tips we’ve picked up over the years that are definitely worth doing:

👧 1. Pack a “just in case” outfit for the kiddos
Pop a complete change of clothes into a Ziploc bag and keep it in your hand luggage. If little ones are travel sick, spill a drink or have an accident, you’ve got clean clothes ready to go — and the dirty ones can go straight back into the sealed bag.
Actually, not a bad idea for the grown-ups too! 😉

🎀 2. Make your suitcase EASY to spot
Got a Disney, Mickey or Minnie suitcase? Chances are, someone else on your Orlando flight does too! 😂
Tie a piece of brightly coloured gift ribbon securely around the handle. It makes your case much easier to recognise on the baggage carousel and, unlike some luggage tags, it’s less likely to get caught and ripped off.

🧳 3. Don’t pack everyone in separate suitcases
Instead of Mum’s clothes in one case, Dad’s in another and the kids’ in theirs, mix a few outfits for each person between your suitcases.
If one case decides to take its own vacation and arrives a day or two late, everyone should still have some clothes and essentials to get by until it catches up! ✈️😅

Planning your Florida holiday? Here are 5 things many UK visitors don’t discover until they arrive!

✅ 1. Don’t rely on cash
Most places prefer card payments, even for small purchases. Contactless is accepted almost everywhere.

🚗 2. Keep right!
Driving is on the right-hand side of the road, and you can usually turn right at a red light after stopping (unless a sign says otherwise).

💧 3. Stay hydrated
Florida’s heat and humidity can catch you by surprise—even in winter. Carry water wherever you go.

⛈️ 4. Afternoon storms are normal
During summer, short but heavy thunderstorms are common. They usually pass quickly, so don’t let them ruin your plans.

🛒 5. Supermarkets are HUGE!
Stores like Publix, Walmart and Target have almost everything you’ll need, so there’s no need to overpack.
