As Tucker County’s tourism director, I get asked where to go for a real winter day. Here’s an answer people don’t always expect.

White Grass is the place for cross-country skiing in Canaan Valley. It’s quiet, it’s beautiful, and you don’t need to be an expert to have a great morning out there.

Here’s a winter day the kids will talk about for weeks.

Snow tubing at Blackwater Falls State Park or Canaan Valley State Park, hot chocolate after, then back to the cabin to thaw out. No lift tickets to figure out, no gear to rent, and everybody comes home tired.
