🇺🇸✈️ A Must Do when visiting Destin✈️🇺🇸
Yesterday, we headed to NAS Pensacola to watch the final Blue Angels practice of the year! There’s something pretty special about watching these incredible pilots represent our country with such precision, skill, and patriotism. ❤️🤍💙 If you’re staying at our beachfront condo, this is an experience worth adding to your vacation bucket list!
🇺🇸 THE BEST PART? IT’S ALL FREE!
✈️ Watch the Blue Angels practice! You can watch these amazing pilots take to the skies right from the flight line at Naval Air Station Pensacola. Practices typically begin around 10:30 a.m. and last about 45 minutes.
🇺🇸 Explore the National Naval Aviation Museum! This museum is AMAZING! It’s beautifully curated, filled with incredible aircraft and aviation history, and admission is FREE! Even if you aren’t an aviation enthusiast, it’s absolutely worth exploring.
✍️ Meet the Blue Angels! On select practice days, team members visit the museum for FREE autograph sessions. It’s a pretty incredible opportunity to meet the people behind the magic! Check the schedule before you go, as autograph sessions aren’t offered after every practice.
🚗 A FEW IMPORTANT TIPS BEFORE YOU GO:
📍 From Home Sea Home in Destin, plan on approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes of driving, depending on traffic. Give yourself extra time!
⏰ LEAVE EARLY! Trust me on this one! Gate traffic can get backed up, and access can temporarily stop when parking fills up. The Base Gate opens at 9:00 a.m., so arriving early is well worth it.
🚙 USE THE WEST GATE! Public visitors must enter NAS Pensacola through the West Gate on Blue Angel Parkway to access the National Naval Aviation Museum and the Blue Angels viewing area.
🪪 BRING PROPER ID! Everyone age 18 and older needs a REAL ID compliant driver’s license or another accepted form of identification, such as a valid U.S. passport. Keep your ID handy for security.
🪑 PACK SMART! Bring lawn chairs, sunscreen, sunglasses, and water. Wear comfortable clothes and consider hearing protection, especially for little ones or anyone sensitive to loud noises. Backpacks and coolers aren’t allowed on the flight line, so check the current restrictions before you leave.
📅 PLAN AHEAD! Practice dates and autograph opportunities vary, and flights can change due to weather or operational needs. If you arrive and find out practice has been canceled due to weather or for another reason, don’t turn around, be sure to at least check out the incredible museum because it is totally worth the drive even just for the museum!
