The big project for this winter is the Chelka Lodge motel bathrooms. Last winter we replaced the through the wall air conditioners and the baseboard heat with the new HVAC Mini-Splits. This year we have ripped out all the baseboard from the motel rooms and at the same time gutted the bathrooms.

Demo is complete and bead board walls are going in. Once that is complete, and the weather warms up, new epoxy floors will be going in to the give the baths a fresh new look.

15 degrees below zero. We are hunkered down - as are the girls - and we are available to take your calls.

Despite the cold we are working this year's projects. We have ripped out all of the baseboard heat in the motel rooms and are now trimming out the rooms. With the new HVAC system these are no longer needed and will give the rooms a more updated, streamlined feel.

We are now starting the motel bath rooms and will have a photo of the prototype up soon.

The New Year is here and we are in the office fielding calls for the 2026 season. It's another cold one and we are glad to stay inside and take your calls. The bay has just started to freeze and the water temperature is 34 degrees so hopefully the lake will ice up. Historically the norm has been ice-in around January 15 and we may be tracking to that date.

For the third consecutive year we are holding our rates and are continuing to reinvest in the property. We finally got someone to paint the boathouse which looks great. Inside projects are focusing on the motel units. Give us a call or visit our website at www.chelkalodge.com

Another beautiful day on Lake George. Thanking all of you for another successful season and looking forward to seeing you in 2026. We will begin accepting reservations on January 5, 2026.

Just one more week until we put a ribbon on the 2025 season. And, just one more week to make reservations for 2026 at 2025 rates. (Limited to repeat guests who wish to book for a week or more.)

We have several projects planned for the winter. One, already completed, is a revamp of the Gazebo. We have put in new furniture and new lighting to make it more amenable to sit down for a meal or perhaps a board game. There is a rheostat so guests can adjust the lighting.

Long over due, but not for lack of trying, is getting the Boathouse scraped and painted. Contractors are leery about working close to the lake, and rightfully so, as debris needs to be carefully contained. We are looking forward to getting this done.

Once winter sets in we plan on working in the motel rooms. Specific plans have not been finalized but we have some thoughts that we are sure our guests will appreciate.

And, BTW, summer is not letting go. We still have a handful of rooms available for Columbus Day weekend. Come on up!

This good-looking guy is the third generation in his family to stay with us. We believe his Mom was not much older when she started visiting with her family. (Update: Heard from Mom. She was 9 days old!) But they are not alone. Our repeat clientele is so important to us and we value you. To date this year, an amazing 92% of our guests are repeat guests or were traveling with repeat guests. It is great when we look across the property and on so many occasions 100% of the guests at any given time have been with us previously.

Many of our guests have developed new relationships with other Chelka Lodge guests and visit the same time every year. Since we have given guests the option of booking a year in advance (if you take a week or more) many are scheduling their 2026 vacations before they even leave the property. 2026 is looking to be a very good year with a lot of familiar faces coming back.

Another beautiful day. We have had almost 3 straight weeks of great weather, a little rain here or there, but otherwise best we have had in years. This is a drone shot taken by one our guests this morning.

We just completed a new amenity for Chelka Lodge "racquet" guests. A 12 x 12 Tennis Backboard has been completed and set up in the Pickle Board court area. Enjoy.

Not many took advantage last year, but we are still offering use of a Weber Grill on the deck for those who are more inclined to sit back and stay home. The view is certainly better than that of most of the restaurants.😃

We got a "third" Lab. Great carving done by Glenn Durlacher. His operation is the carving spot that shares the parking lot by Martha's, across from Great Escape.

Maddie is not too sure about the new addition but she will get used to it. Issie does not care.

Just in time for the summer season, we have literally just completed this year's big project. Many may not notice but we removed all of the "through the wall" air conditioners and installed min-splits in every motel unit. The mini-splits enables guests to fully control their heat and/or AC. Removing the old air conditioners required sheet rocking the back wall of each unit to close the holes as well as residing the entire back of the motel. The next step will be to remove all of the baseboard heating as that is no longer needed. This will facilitate updating the bathroom floors.
