Happy World Kindness Day!

I have had some of the most wonderful guests this past year and am grateful for their kindness. One guest from Florida has been here the past two Octobers and sends me little handmade cards every few weeks to celebrate something. Here's one celebrating today along with a stitched reminder from my grandma's house I swiped for the lobby, and a printed reminder from my Beekman 1802 calendar.

This past week brought us the good people from the Carolinas and every kid hit a homer before coming to enjoy their team party. They took full advantage of the grills, the covered pavilion, the fire pit, and of course our baseball field.

We rewarded all the home run hitters with a fresh towel to get ready for the tournament. Congratulations on finishing top 4 and making the week on and off the field so memorable and fun.

Lesson learned - next time give them the towels before a team of 12-year-old boys takes over the lobby for pin trading. Thanks for a great week!

I may have never been to Kentucky but thanks to the Longhorns from the Villa Hills Longhorns Athletic Association I feel like I'm one of them now. They came to stay and play last week during their week at the Cooperstown Dreams Park tournament and on the last night after we were done eating delicious Stewarts'Shops ice cream sundaes, I was surprised to turn around and have a 12-year-old with a microphone thanking me. Me? I did nothing, they brought everything they needed to party and I should have been thanking them! I was given the coveted Longhorns hat along with a basket of other local treats from their area.

I can honestly say I love everything about Kentucky based on the time I spent with these parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and players. Such a great group I was honored to be around and create memories! Thank you for sharing your grilling skills, dance moves, karaoke voices, senior portraits, and extremely happy, fun-loving & respectful kids. The only thing that could have made it better was finding a bear on our bear hunt. Thank you for choosing to stay at The Meadowlark Inn!

While I may have spent today 2,149 miles away from my own wonderful mother, I was able to welcome a few mothers - old, young, and soon-to-be - to the lobby for breakfast and to enjoy the beautiful tulips I picked up yesterday at the new Limesprings Farm. I'm so excited to have them and their produce next door this season!

My own mother is a wonderful human being. She makes life fun and never stops smiling. She will be out here for much of the summer and I am beyond excited I get to share her (and my dad too) with you. She'd be proud I honored her teachings today by cleaning a room and making beds to happily welcome a new guest.

I am so so so very fortunate to have had loving grandmothers, sisters, friends, neighbors, co-workers, bosses, as well as many other influential women who I love and respect in their capacity as mothers. I hope you mothers, and those of you who have mothers, have had a great weekend thinking about who makes your life worth living.
