No Cocktail Night This Labor Day Monday

After a non-stop summer, we—and our bartender—need a day off! ☀️

So there will be no Cocktail Night this Monday, Labor Day.

We’ll be back at it Tuesday evening with a twilight assortment of cocktails and, of course, that beautiful Tawas Bay view.

We hope everyone enjoys the day with family and friends. Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸

Never did we imagine where one big idea in 2021 would take us. Almost five years ago, we dreamed big for Michigan’s Sunrise Side and decided to do something that, at the time, plenty of people thought we were a little crazy for doing. We built luxury cottages and an upscale waterfront event venue

A New Chapter for Lake Life Cottages — Downtown East Tawas

We’re excited to share more about our plans for the former William Look & Sons building — and before we show you what it will become, we want to show you where we’re starting.

Thanks to and the talented Haylee Hill, we captured a little of the “before.”

This project is about more than renovation. It’s about restoration, preservation and bringing life back to an iconic East Tawas corner.

In the former automobile showroom, we plan to open the space back up and expose its original Squire Whipple bowstring trusses, allowing the building’s history to become part of its future.

And we’re taking you along for the journey — the discoveries, restoration, design and transformation.

At the heart of it all will be three distinct spaces:

The Garage — an upscale cocktail lounge paying tribute to the property’s automotive history.

The Sunrise Club by Lake Life Cottages — a social club and gathering space open to the public, with ticketed visiting-chef dinners, special experiences and a place for locals and visitors to connect.

The Guild — our largest event space, accommodating approximately 250+ seated guests for celebrations, private events and special programming.

From October through May, we envision food, music, art, makers, visiting chefs and seasonal experiences that give people another reason to come north — while giving our local community more to experience during the quieter months.

Imagine staying at Lake Life Cottages, cocktails at The Garage, dinner at The Sunrise Club or an event at The Guild — then spending the rest of your weekend exploring our local shops, restaurants and businesses.

That’s the bigger vision: preserving a piece of East Tawas history, creating places for our community to gather and bringing more year-round activity to the Tawas area.
