A strange thing happens when a place survives for 100 years.

Eventually, it starts producing artifacts.

A newspaper.
A fishing guide.
A bait box.
A Sportsman’s tee.
A whiskey.
A camp towel.

Brochures from the 1940s that found their way back into circulation.

Some are souvenirs.
Some are things you end up making with other brands (hello, silk sportsman bandana)
And some just to help campers entertain themselves here

the sorts of things that accumulate when people spend a century making memories in the same place.

FOR THE FOODIES:

Anybody who’s been here will warn you that we don’t have an in-house chef.

But we do love partnering up with our Wisconsin neighbors just up the road, THE ELEGANT FARMER. They started in 1946 as a family dairy farm, also selling fruits & vegetables. Now known for their Farm Bakery & Kitchen, Deli & Produce, and pick-your-own apples. They’re celebrated for their specialties: Cider Baked Ham, Fruit Applesauces & Crisps, full bakery with Fruit Breads, Gourmet Sauces & Blue Ribbon Cheeses. But most famous for their “Best Apple Pie in AmBobby Flayys @wallstreet.journal, Gourmet Food Network They have an inspirational story for so many of us because they’re proof that doing something right can make you an overnight success. (That and 70 consecutive years of doing something right). Theyre still open every day year round, because that’s what farmers do.

You can shop from our camp newspaper, ring them up to place your order for the Wandawega Picnic before you arrive, and your apple crates are delivered for you: Featuring 30 of the best, regional award winning meats, cheeses, bakery goods and snacks for campers.

Welcoming an unlikely pair to camp this summer:

Sharing first design boards peek into what we’ve been working on since last fall.

Perched on platforms in the woods – one of the these rustic camping units will have a double bed, the other a lofted bed, both overlooking a glacial kettle (just past the archery range) - They’re gonna be part of one of our three existing rustic camping clusters. We worked with our local structural engineer to get approval for the two platforms they sit on, originally designed to hold a couple of traditional A-frame rustic cabins. But we never got around to building those - and used the decks instead as home base for our Wedge tents (now that those are too worn for another season, we decided to take a different path). The plan is to make them bookable later this summer as a pair, along with two adjacent campsites (offered as a rustic camping cluster for small groups).

Sourced pre-fab from the original builder: commercial grade aluminum framing, he constructed them to be mobile (with built-in fork truck pockets)—- we’ve been in the lumber yard for weeks, custom-building out the interiors of our little ‘Wren NSteven Teichelmanar in birch.

Heat, AC, lighting- (and, for sure, curtains) coming soon.
