One of the sweetest surprises of sharing Kismet Cabin has been the people who return.

This wonderful family first discovered our little cabin before we even became its caretakers. And now, we've had the privilege of welcoming them back and watching their family grow.

When we read their beautiful review and saw that they're already looking forward to next year, our hearts were full. 🥰

We thought we were opening a cabin for guests.

Turns out, we were opening the door to some pretty wonderful friendships.

There's something about fall in the North Georgia mountains that makes you want to slow down just a little.

The leaves are changing, the air is getting crisp, and the woods around Kismet are putting on their own beautiful show.

It's the perfect time for morning coffee on the deck, an afternoon exploring Ellijay, and a cozy evening under the stars. 🌲☕❤️

Sometimes the best getaway is simply finding a little place where you can do absolutely nothing...and enjoy every minute of it.

And if you happen to spend the entire afternoon in your pajamas?

Well, we're certainly not telling anybody. 🤣

Sometimes the best getaway isn't about everything you do.

It's about everything you finally get to stop doing.

The holidays are coming. The calendars are filling up. And somewhere between the celebrations, the gatherings, and the endless to-do lists...

There ought to be a little room for magic. ✨🌲

Maybe it's a weekend with someone you love. A getaway with your best friend. A little adventure with your favorite furbaby.

Or perhaps it's two glorious days of doing absolutely nothing.

(We're particularly fond of that last option.) 🤣❤️

One year. Hundreds of little moments. And a whole lot of love. ❤️🌲

Our sweet little cabin in the woods just celebrated its first birthday! 🥳

A year ago, we opened Kismet's red door and invited the world inside. Since then, we've welcomed honeymooners, anniversary celebrators, families, best friends, four-legged adventurers, and folks who simply needed a little peace and quiet.

We've watched guests make Kismet their own, leave stories behind, and occasionally remind us that Mother Nature has a rather interesting sense of humor. 🤣

To everyone who's been part of our first year, thank you for filling our little cabin with so many wonderful memories.

We can't wait to see what stories the next year brings!

The Traveling Bookmark 📖🌲
We conducted a tiny experiment at Kismet this week.
Inside The Kismet Companion—the book of stories we wrote about the cabin and some of the characters who live here—we tucked one of our new bookmarks just inside the cover.
It says:
“Every stay leaves a story.
Thank you for becoming a little part of ours.”
The bookmark is a gift, so guests are welcome to take it home.
But we had another reason for putting it there.
We were curious. 🤭
When we returned after our latest guests checked out, the bookmark wasn't where we'd left it.
It had traveled all the way to the Apple Cart story.
Someone had been reading. 🥹
And for two people who have spent an unreasonable amount of time giving trees names, documenting the real-estate ambitions of a millipede, and hiding little stories throughout a cabin in the woods...
that made us ridiculously happy.
Kismet rewards the curious. ❤️🌲
And apparently, sometimes she leaves evidence.

Our most recent guests, Dakota & Crystal, came to Kismet to celebrate their 9th wedding anniversary. When they arrived, they told us the cabin was exactly what they had been looking for.

October has arrived in the North Georgia mountains. 🌲🍂
The mornings are getting cooler. The evenings are asking for a fire. And sitting in the hot tub under the trees is starting to feel less like an amenity and more like an excellent life decision. 🤭
This is one of our favorite times of year at Kismet—the little stretch when summer finally loosens its grip and the mountains begin changing their clothes.
If you’ve been craving a few quiet days in a little cabin in the woods, October might be trying to tell you something. ❤️
