We’ve been overwhelmed by the excitement surrounding our newest cottage, and summer availability is filling up quickly. Last-minute openings are hard to find, so if a Door County getaway has been on your mind, now is the time to reserve your stay.

The Spruce is the perfect retreat for a couple or small family looking for a cozy, clean, and thoughtfully updated space to relax and reconnect. Whether you're exploring Door County's charming towns, spending the day at the beach, or simply enjoying a quiet evening by the water, The Spruce offers the perfect home base.

A few helpful notes:
✨ Booking direct is the most affordable option and helps you avoid the additional fees charged by larger booking platforms.

🛏️ The cottage accommodates up to 4 guests. The loft features a king-size bed, and there are two couches in the living area. Families are welcome to bring an air mattress for children if desired.

Same people. Same dock. Same sunset. So. Much. Growth.

This photo was taken just after we bought The Birch and spent Memorial Day weekend renovating and getting her ready for guests. The kids were all in. They painted the porch, the walls, and even the kitchen cabinets. They made the original sign that hung on the anchor, and they were still young enough that a trip to Uncle Tom’s Candy Store counted as excellent bribery.

It feels like yesterday, yet somehow also a lifetime ago.

Since then, so much has changed. This year, Ella turns 18 and begins her final year of high school. Will is leaving middle school behind.

Looking back at this photo reminds me how quickly these years pass and how much beauty can be found in the ordinary moments we never realize are the “good old days” until they’re gone.

If anyone has figured out how to slow down time or truly master living in the moment, I’m all ears.

Introducing The Spruce - the newest addition to Timberline Cottages! 🌲

We are overjoyed to finally have all three cottages ready to welcome you, your family, and friends. From the moment we first saw these cottages, we could picture what they would become - a place where generations gather, where memories are made year after year, and where someday our kids will bring their own families back, too.

What started as a vision has become a place for connection, rest, and slowing down together — with everyone having their own cozy space to relax and unwind. We can’t wait to share The Spruce with you.

Although the Northern Lights can be elusive, aurora sightings have become more common recently! Here’s what to know so you don’t miss out. 👇

𝟏. 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 - there is definitely a science to it all. For the most part, you need to see a Kp of at least 6 to see visible auroras in the contiguous U.S.

𝟐. 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 - The farther north you are, the better. This, of course, is good news since we're at the top of the thumb!

𝟑. 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐞𝐬 - For the very best shot at viewing the northern lights you should head to Newport State Park, a certified dark sky location!

𝟒. 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 - Auroras can be incredibly difficult to predict, but they are generally most visible between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.

𝟓. 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞 - This can be a helpful tool! iPhone Tips: enable Night Mode, turn off your flash, set a 5-15 second exposure, and use a tripod (if you have one) for best results.
