📸 Did You Know Alley Spring Mill Was More Than a Grist Mill?

When most of us think of Alley Spring Mill, we picture the iconic red grist mill that ground grain for local families. But this fascinating historic photograph reminds us that the power of Alley Spring was put to work in other ways, too!

The handwritten caption identifies this scene as a "Water Turbine" Saw Mill, showing workers, stacks of lumber, and the water-powered machinery that helped process timber in the Ozarks. It's a remarkable glimpse into a time when the spring's powerful flow supported multiple industries and helped build the surrounding communities.

I always knew Alley Spring as a grist mill, so discovering this photo of its sawmill operations was a surprise! It's a great reminder that historic places often have stories beyond the ones we know best.

🔍 What surprised you most about this photograph? Have you ever visited Alley Spring and explored its history? Do you have any stories or knowledge about its time as a saw mill?
