At the Smoked Mullet Awards on May 15, 2026, Nancy Wille and Esther Horton enchanted the crowd with hilarious tales from Englewood’s past—especially the unforgettable stories of Englewood’s n**e beaches. Yes, you heard that right!

Once upon a time, Manasota Key was a sanctuary for those seeking freedom and fun under the sun. Imagine lounging on the beach without a care in the world, enjoying true “Old Florida” vibes. Back in the day, spots like "The Sea Island Sanctuary" offered total privacy for sunbathers who embraced their natural selves.

Inspired by these nostalgic stories, Jessica Souza of Paradise Exclusive Real Estate decided it was time to honor our roots with some playful flair—introducing the “Make Englewood N**e Again” campaign. This “cheeky” initiative aims to celebrate our unique history while supporting the Lemon Bay Historical Society. All proceeds from merchandise will help keep Englewood's rich stories alive for generations to come.

We found a third party website “hotelsone.com” using our name, our own pictures (and booking rooms through Expedia once received a booking) posing as US direct and not indicating that they are a third party. I think Google brought it down but still be careful. If you booked through them please call me.
