It's one thing to love getting a bouquet of flowers, and it's another to be able to pick them yourself.

At OneEighty Petals, just a few minutes drive from Ephraim Shores, you can have both: you can pick your own Door County-sown blooms from their incredible flower field, or you can select an already assembled bouquet from their Grab & Go cooler.

There are just a few weeks left of OneEighty Petals U-Pick Flower Field experience. A $25 deposit is all that's needed to secure your reservation, with openings available most weekends throughout the rest of the month.

Fine Line Designs Gallery's third and final exhibit of the season comes down on September 11, so there's just over a week left to see it.

The show brings together Bonnie Paruch's color-saturated landscapes and florals, Alberta Marana's atmospheric pastels, and the bird carvings of Tom Tyers, a three-time world champion carver whose feather work has to be seen up close to be believed.

If you can't get there before it closes, the gallery stays open seven days a week through the fall, and the sculpture garden is worth the stop on its own.

Also, mark Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11 for the gallery's annual Townline Art Fair, where more than 60 juried artists from across the Midwest set up under the tents with glass, pottery, metal sculpture, painting, photography, fiber art and woodworking. It runs rain or shine (and draws about 3,000 people over the weekend, so it's a pretty big deal!).

We've got a BIG birthday we're celebrating today. Big, meaning the big 1-0-0.

Happy birthday to the guy that made Ephraim Shores Resort possible: Randall "Ranny" Nelson.

In 1969, Ranny and his wife Ruth purchased property and built what would become Ephraim Shores Resort. At the time, Ranny also owned another business: South Shore Pier, where he'd rent boats to visitors every summer.

Over the years, Ranny and Ruth turned their small hotel and restaurant into a 46-room resort with a pool area and game room. Ranny has always taken great pride in Ephraim Shores, and has spent every available moment (even during the off-season!) working on the building. He's still out and about around here whenever he can be!

We have so many reasons to be grateful to Ranny, but the biggest one is that he's instilled in all of us that the guest experience is the most important thing there is in the lodging business, and it's a guiding principle that is still very much alive today.

Labor Day weekend is the last big one of the summer, and the whole peninsula turns out for it. Here's what's happening within an easy drive of Ephraim Shores:

Marina Fest, Sister Bay (September 5 & 6): This Sister Bay celebration is 30 years old in 2026, and they're celebrating in a big way with a classic and wooden boat show, an arts and crafts fair, live music and fireworks over the bay Saturday at dusk

Jazz on Jefferson, Sturgeon Bay (September 5 & 6): A brand new free street festival, with eight jazz groups on two stages Sunday

Gills Rock ArtFest (September 5 & 6): Two dozen artists showing and demonstrating their work, in its 25th year at the tip of the peninsula

Newport Wilderness Days, Ellison Bay (September 4-6): Guided hikes, naturalist programs and stargazing at Wisconsin's only Dark Sky Park

Is anyone else wondering where the summer went? This one went especially fast!

We know, we know...we technically still have a few more weeks of summer. But there's something about the end of August that gets us into the mood for fall.

Cherries get a lot of the attention in Door County, but in a few weeks, it will be time for our other favorite fruit to shine: apples.

Apples are in season roughly mid-September through mid-October. If you're heading up here for apple season, here are a few places to put on your list:

Lautenbach's Market & Winery in Fish Creek: Lautenbach's gives the full experience. They've got pick-your-own apples daily in-season, plus plenty of apple-flavored products in their market.

Wood Orchard Market in Egg Harbor: This institution on Highway 42 is packed come apple season with several different apple varieties as well as cider, james, pies, and much more.

Seaquist Orchards Farm Market in Sister Bay: This longtime Door County orchard also stocks fresh apples and many apple goodies, not to mention an Apple Fest weekend during the fall.

There's a new boutique and gallery in Ephraim, and they're opening in early September!

Maven Boutique & Gallery (located in the former Blue Dolphin House) plans to have their grand opening on Thursday, September 3.

Here's what we know about the shop: The space will remain a home goods shop and art gallery, and the owners are also planning to add a small selection of clothing in a wide range of sizes.

We're sure they'll have more information (and teasers!) as their opening date gets closer. For more information, follow them on Instagram at .

This will be a great addition to North Ephraim. Our tip: stay at Ephraim Shores and shop that entire corridor! So many great shops: Thrift Hagen , The Simple Solution Door County , Door County Rock & Gem, Fine Line Designs Art Gallery, Island Lavender...
