25 years later, we still remember exactly where we were that morning. Nearly 3,000 people never came home, and in the years since, we've lost so many more of the first responders and volunteers who worked at Ground Zero, their sacrifice every bit as real as what happened that day. There are so many now who weren't yet alive to feel that morning the way we did, and we think that makes it even more important for those of us who lived through it to keep telling the story, not with anger, but so the weight of that day and the courage it brought out in people is never lost. We will never forget.

Eight years ago today, at exactly 4:00 PM, we opened the doors of Spencer House as the new owners and innkeepers, and welcomed our very first 12 guests. We had no idea what we were starting.

Since then, over 6,500 guests from around the world have stayed with us, and seven years running, you've voted us a TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice winner. That means more to us than any award could say on its own, because it comes straight from the people who slept in these rooms and sat at our breakfast table.

Every one of those 6,500 stays has its own story. Some folks come back year after year. Some found us once and told us it felt like coming home. All of it, every single visit, is part of what Spencer House has become.

Thank you for eight wonderful years, and for making us part of your Erie story. Here's to year nine. , , , , ,
