Here’s a happy reminder that the Recess Inn is up for Best B&B in the Missouri Life Show Me the Best of Missouri Awards! Please vote for us through November 10 at www.missourilife.com/best-of/. You can vote once per day and must have a Missouri address. It works best on a web browser. Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️

We're feeling pretty honored! The Recess Inn has been nominated for Missouri Life Magazine's Show Me the Best of Missouri awards!

When we became the stewards of our little 1909 schoolhouse bed & breakfast in our hometown of Ethel, we hoped to nurture a place where people could slow down, feel at home, and experience a little of the magic of rural Missouri. It's been such a joy to share this special place with our guests and community.

If you've enjoyed a stay, attended an event, or simply believe in what we're building here, we'd be so grateful for your vote! Voting is open until November 10, and you can vote daily!

Thank you for cheering us on and helping us keep this old schoolhouse full of life. We're grateful for every bit of support!

Happy birthday to Hanna, our fabulous innkeeper! It seems like divine intervention that she ended up at the Recess Inn. She played here and helped Sandy as a girl, loves her hometown of Ethel, and touches many hearts when she shares it with our guest. We love you, Hanna Banana!

Come see us on Friday in New Cambria at the Trunk or Treat or come by the Inn on Saturday!

We can’t wait to see some trick-or-treaters! 🎃

We’ve had a fun filled weekend with a full house! 2 special guests were even made honorary Wiener Mobile pilots. We’re sad the weekend is coming to an end, but looking forward to the next check-in.

The Wiener Mobile made it to Ethel Last night. They are at Bologna Fest today in Kirksville, but you can stop by tomorrow to take a picture!

Come out next weekend for some fall fun as a community. Hayrides + Cooking over a fire = the perfect autumn evening.

Did you know single, self-propelled "Doodlebug" train cars used to stop in Ethel and carry passengers to neighboring towns? How we wish they still existed here! Did you ever ride a Doodlebug?!

We have certainly been reminiscing lately. Almost 27 years ago The Recess Inn was in Midwest Living Magazine! Sandy’s three Rs: resting, relaxing, and reminiscing still stand true when you stay at the inn.

Our neighbors at the Ethel Community Church are hosting their annual turkey dinner fundraiser for their food pantry on Saturday, November 14, from 5 - 7pm! Plan to come up to Ethel, as these cooks are incredible. Free will donations are appreciated, either monetary or food for the pantry. Possible guests, if you've been trying to decide when to come visit this fall, this is definitely worth the trip!
