The bears are out! 🐻

As temperatures drop, bears are spending more time looking for food to help prepare for winter. It’s especially important to be mindful of anything around your campsite that could attract them.

A few simple ways to help keep bears wild and your campsite safe:

• Keep trash in a secure, bear-resistant container whenever possible.
• Never leave food, scraps or coolers sitting outside overnight.
• Clean up grills, cooking areas and dishes after meals.
• Store pet food and other scented items securely.
• Don’t put food scraps or leftovers in an open campground trash can.
• If you’re camping, follow the campground’s guidelines for food and waste storage.

Bears have an incredible sense of smell, and even small amounts of food can bring them into areas where people live and recreate.

Enjoy the mountains, respect the wildlife, and help keep our bears wild. 🐻🍂
