A week ago, Josh left us the most wonderful review, with a lively, vibrant description of what it feels like to vacation here. Many heartfelt thanks, Josh!
"A stay at the Palmer House is like stepping back in time. It oozes the kind of charm and coziness you can find only in a B&B—or perhaps at your grandmother’s house.
Each guest room is completely unique. Ours had a big, fluffy bed and was outfitted with a comfortable chair, a dresser and a small writing desk. We slept well. The house is surprisingly quiet for an old gal, especially considering our room faced the street. The bathroom was compact, but the shower worked well. It was all we needed to freshen up before heading out for the day or evening.
The parlor and other common areas look like something out of Pollyanna, with high-backed chairs and tufted settees.
We were fortunate enough to meet the owners, Tom and Billy, bend their ears for a while and get acquainted with their enormous dog, Zeus. Tom even played the old Victrola on the first floor for us, which was a huge treat and further drove home the place’s old-timey feel.
We also enjoyed spending time in the property’s lovely garden. Sitting around the fire pit at night was particularly delightful.
As far as logistics, the B&B is just around the corner from downtown Falmouth’s Main Street, with all its restaurants, cafés, bars and boutiques. Coffee Obsession, a café just diagonally across from the inn, was a particular favorite with our group.
Breakfast every morning in the quaint dining room was delicious, plentiful and made with care, with plenty of choices and strong coffee to start the day. Outside of breakfast, the coffee bar on the first floor, with a Keurig and plenty of pods, provided pick-me-ups during the day, along with soothing teas and cookies in the evening—just like at Grandma’s.
We definitely recommend the Palmer House and will likely be back.
