There’s a room within the original middle school building that anchors the space between the lobby and Patsy’s, a communal area for guests to wander into — with morning coffee from our Provisions Pantry, or for a game of cards post-dinner.

Nichole Westfall came to spend a week here earlier this month, helping us transform the space into something really wonderful.

It’s a brave task to take on the preservation and revival of an historic building such as this, but the possibilities and opportunities we found (almost immediately) within the light-filled rooms, beautiful long hallways, paneled ceilings, and sandy stonework (waiting patiently for a polish), provided the starting point for a renovation that we firmly believe honors the heritage of this 100+ year old school.

We hope to honor the history of the Pirates through the restoration that’s deep underway, and to offer a space for gathering back to Fayetteville within the warmth of dining room.

“Our hope is that Hill Hall becomes a place locals feel proud of, and a place travelers can return to after a day spent in the Gorge and truly feel at home.”

– Stephen, owner of (the team leading the transformation of these school buildings on the hill) and grandson of Pat, the inspiration for .

We’re entering the home stretch of this deeply personal project.

When complete, the property will provide 40 guest rooms, a communal bar and restaurant, and a warm and welcoming gathering space for visitors from near and far.
