A very fond farewell,
It is with full hearts and much gratitude, that Jerome and I hosted our final weekend, made our last breakfasts for guests and said goodbye to some wonderful people—so representative of the many have come to stay with us here At Willow Pond B&B over the last 10 years. We have come to love this business more than we could have imagined, and it has been because of you, the many lovely people who have come to stay. We have met people not just from our great state, but from all around our country and all over the world. So many times we have turned to each other, Jerome and I, and said some version of “They were such nice people!”. Our lives have been enriched from getting to know all of you.
Jerome had been in business for many years before I came along, so it was nothing new to him to start another one, but it was totally out of my comfort zone, having just been an educator before this. It has been such a pleasure to me, to find success at this venture on so many levels, but most importantly, at making people happy, comfortable and at home in our home. We’ve shared so many stories, so much laughter, so many hugs, prayers and even tears, as our guests have expressed what it has meant to them “get away to the country” to find the peace and tranquility, acceptance, rest and respite from their busy lives, here at our little slice of heaven.
We are going to miss this business, all of you wonderful people and the beautiful home we created from the scrubby field we began with. We both take pride in what we have accomplished here. We look forward now though, with excitement, to the next stage of our lives, my new teaching job, and our new (and much smaller) home, that we will make a place we will love just as much as this one. We will carry our memories of all of you and of At Willow Pond with us as we move on. Thank you all, so very much! ~ Claire and Jerome
