Just one of the many species of birds you may see on and around the pond. Along with the great blue heron you may also see Canadian geese raising their goslings, osprey, mallards, wood ducks, ring- necked ducks, buffleheads, sharp-shinned hawks, red tail hawks, red shouldered hawks, red-wing black birds, barn swallows and so many other wonderful birds. Make sure to visit Mabry Mill during your stay at Our Cabin. It's a beautiful drive on the parkway to the mill from the cabin. Be aware the restaurant is not open during the winter so make sure to check those times before planning your trip.

Summer is fast approaching and that means camping, cabins, firepits, and s'mores! We've been making preparations here at Our Cabin to ensure our guests will have plenty of firewood for their summer evening campfires during their stay. Y'all come visit us soon!

We have the most gorgeous sunsets here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Come stay with us to experience the sheer beauty yourself. We are just 15 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and about 40 minutes from the Saddle Overlook where you can watch the sun disappear below the horizon. It truly is breathtaking.

The 2022 season is starting to ramp up! One thing you may want to do while staying with us is visit our neighbors, Kerry and Libby, and purchase one of Kerry's beautiful walking sticks. Their Airbnb, Maggie's Farm Cabin, is a traditional dog trot style Virginia log cabin listed on the Virginia Historic Registry. You may want to make reservations to stay there one day. In the meantime, here's a video about Kerry and how he came to make his walking sticks. Enjoy!
