Have y'all stocked recently?
The answer will almost always be yes, but maybe not in the way you think...
The past two Fridays we have stocked several thousand Largemouth Bass fry and fingerlings; these are 1.5", so as you can tell, you hit that thousand number about every 100 ounces.
In fact, most fish that are stocked statewide are in this general size, save for Rainbow Trout. The reason you don't see them on the Stocking Report, is that it is for catchable size fish, not the 100s of millions of fish that are stocked annually by CPW as a whole.

Last day of the Free Fishing Weekend today, flag down one of our Rangers and we can give you some tips (or untangle some line). We've got a lot of experience (mostly with the latter).

There's a new park bench at the northwest corner of Blue Heron Trail and the northwest corner of Pelican Pond Trail. Both are good places to catch the sunrise or rainbows after a storm. We've also added ADA picnic tables to all of the ADA fish piers.

We have been checking fish and doing some supplemental stocking on all of our ponds this week. We saw a nice Bass and Walleye (sort of pictured) on Coot yesterday, as well as a ton of Sunfish. Should have OK numbers for the Free Fishing Weekend Saturday and Sunday, the 6th and 7th of June. No license is required, but all other regulations and fees apply. Get those novices and future generations out!

Highlighting some of our recent projects this week, by showing our maintenance crew updating and improving our handicap fishing pier rails. There are two new sets of rails at both pairs of piers on Sandpiper and Pelican ponds.
Word problems are hard, that's four piers total.

Volunteers have been out building us a new xerophytic pollinator garden at the Camper Services building that will replace the old water intensive grass lawn on the west side of the building, promoting lower water use, biological diversity, and forage habitat for pollinators and microbes.
