Residents at AHEPA 310 IV Apartments in Saraland, Alabama, recently had two opportunities to learn, engage and make their voices heard.

🚲 With more residents taking up bicycles and E-bikes, Lt. O’Shea of the Saraland Police Department and Fire Marshal Austin Sealy stopped by to discuss bicycle and E-bike safety, rules of the road and important safety practices, including lithium-ion battery safety.

🏛️ Residents also welcomed Saraland City Councilman Chris Andrews for a conversation about their community. The visit gave residents an opportunity to share their perspectives directly with a local elected official while giving Councilman Andrews valuable insight into their needs and priorities.

We appreciate these community partners for taking the time to connect with our residents and provide information and opportunities that support their safety, independence and engagement in the community.

🎉 BINGO! Fun in Houston!

Residents at Penelope 54 I & II Apartments in Houston recently enjoyed an afternoon of Bingo, great company and some very cool prizes!

Beyond being fun, activities like Bingo provide opportunities for older adults to stay socially connected and mentally engaged, both important parts of healthy aging.

A big thank you to Houston’s Finest for stopping by and making the afternoon special, and congratulations to all of our lucky winners! 👏

Preventing falls. Protecting independence.

Across AHEPA Senior Living, our teams are connecting residents with community partners and health professionals who can provide practical information to help reduce the risk of falls and support healthy, independent living.

Recent programs included:

✓ AHEPA 501 I & II in Albuquerque, New Mexico: RN Crystal Medina from UNM discussed fall prevention and the potentially serious impact falls can have on the brain.

✓ AHEPA 29 I, II & III in Houston, Texas: Ivy Senior Activity Center and podiatrist Dr. Pan focused on fall prevention, diabetic foot health and proper foot care, along with a chair Tai Chi demonstration.

✓ AHEPA 127 I & II in Milford and Cincinnati, Ohio: Alicia from Amazing Grace Home Care shared practical tips on safely getting up from a chair, proper footwear, mobility aids, throw rugs and grab bars.

✓ AHEPA Penelope District One in Hoover, Alabama: Aveanna Home Health provided residents with an informative presentation on fall prevention and balance control.

Thank you to the health professionals and community partners who shared their expertise with our residents. Programs like these provide residents with knowledge and practical tools that can help them stay safe, confident and independent.
