POV: You’ve lived in Indiana your whole life but somehow haven’t been to Jupiter Flights yet.

Jupiter Flights returns to Conner Prairie September 11–13 for Indiana’s largest hot air balloon festival — and it’s so much more than watching balloons float across the sky.

Here are a few things to know before you go:

🎈 Friday + Saturday evenings: Enjoy balloon competitions, the spectacular Balloon Glow, live music, food, games, rides, the tubing hill, corn mazes and more.

🌅 Saturday + Sunday mornings: Come early for the morning balloon competitions from 7–9:30 AM. Your morning event ticket also includes Conner Prairie admission for the day.

🏡 Stay at Prairie Guest House. We’re literally across the street from Conner Prairie, so you can walk over for Jupiter Flights and walk right back to your room when the night is over. Plus you get to wake up to a sky full of balloons whether or not you purchased morning tickets.

🧺 Bring a blanket or chairs: Settle in and make an evening of it. You can even order a charcuterie box ahead of time from our charcuterie partner Fig & Rind for the perfect picnic waiting for you upon arrival.

Blueberries + lemon + cardamom + turbinado sugar + a perfectly crumbly texture = a Blueberry Lemon Scone you can’t stop thinking about. 🫐🍋

But the thing that surprises people most?

They’re gluten-free.

Gluten-free wasn’t just a nice-to-have for us. It’s the most common allergen we encounter with guests—and it’s something John and Karen understand personally, too.

We didn’t set out to make a “gluten-free scone.” We set out to make a really, really good scone. And most guests can’t even tell the difference. 😉

And yes, they’re supposed to be crumbly.

John’s only rule: eat over your plate. 😂

Grand Park tournaments are loud. Your hotel doesn’t have to be. 🙌

Our hearts go out to all those affected by the high water here in Hamilton County. We know this is not something you can ever prepare for. We would like to offer a hand to help those who need a temporary place to stay while they wait for floodwaters to recede and their homes to dry out.

SOTP HACKS TO MAKE YOUR NIGHT EVEN BETTER 🎻

There are still 9 Symphony on the Prairie shows left this summer, so if you’ve got tickets—or you’re thinking about grabbing some—here are a few ways to make your SOTP night even easier:

🎻 Hack 1: Stay within walking distance.
Prairie Guest House is directly across the street from Conner Prairie, so you can skip the post-concert traffic and walk back to your room when the music is over.

🚗 Hack 2: Compare the Uber cost.
An Uber to and from SOTP can add up quickly, and often is about the same as the cost of a guest room at Prairie Guest House anyway—but with a room, you get an entire night away plus breakfast the next morning instead of a 20-minute ride home.

🧀 Hack 3: Don’t worry about dinner.
Pre-order a Fig & Rind charcuterie picnic box through Prairie Guest House and have your concert picnic handled before you even get to the lawn.

🍷 Hack 4: You don’t have to haul everything in.
Bring your favorite drinks, or purchase drinks from vendors at Conner Prairie. And if you don’t want to lug chairs across the lawn, you can even purchase a table with chairs for 10 included.

Stay the night, enjoy the concert, take your time walking back, sleep in a little, and wake up to breakfast at Prairie Guest House. It turns a few hours of music into an actual summer getaway.
