Halloween weekend in the pines is still open.

Saturday Oct 31, the Flagstaff Visitor Center hosts a free Kids Halloween Bash from 10 AM to 1 PM with a costume contest. That evening, downtown runs its free Trick-or-Treat Trail from 4 to 7 PM. Grab a map in Heritage Square and hit the downtown shops for treats.

Sunday, drive down Oak Creek Canyon for Día de los Mu***os at Tlaquepaque in Sedona, 11 AM to 5 PM: altars, ofrendas, live music, and Ballet Folklorico.

Dark skies weekend is next.

Flagstaff Star Party is Oct 1 to 3 at Buffalo Park — free telescopes, hosted scopes, and talks under real dark skies, 6 to 10 PM each night. Dress warmer than you think. Short drive from our cabins.

Same Saturday: Flagstaff Oktoberfest is Oct 3 at Wheeler Park if you want brats and polka before the stars. Tickets on the festival site.

If you’re building a Flagstaff trip around something you can’t get in the Valley, this is the weekend.

Science weekend is next.

Flagstaff Festival of Science runs Sep 25 to Oct 4 — free talks and family programs around town. Sat Sep 26 is Snook’s Science in the Park at Wheeler Park, 10 AM to 2 PM. Hands-on booths, kids welcome, short drive from our cabins.

If you’re building a Flagstaff trip around something the whole family can do, this is the one.
