Back on the farm today, shifting gears from fiber festival mode to farm family mode. The dye garden is calling, the dahlias need tending, and there are chores waiting around every corner. But last night, my heart was full as I reflected on this past weekend.

To every local friend, knitter, maker, and fiber lover who stopped by our booth, purchased yarn, shared a story, or simply cheered us on… thank you.

As I sat down this morning to write a check to one of our herd farmers for the cashmere fiber she entrusted to us, I couldn’t help but think of all the faces from this weekend that made that moment possible. That payment will help with hay bills, feed, and the ongoing care of the animals that make this journey possible.

Sometimes it’s easy to think of yarn as just yarn. But every skein tells a much bigger story.

So when you cast on that next project, know that you’re making more than a scarf, hat, or sweater. You’re helping keep farms going, hay in the barn, and dreams alive.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in what we’re building together.

💜 Christine & Heidi
( shout out to for knitting the Sophia Hoodie in our cashmere Dream , that was a hard one to give back ! )

A little farm drama unfolded this morning when our favorite pot-bellied pig, Bella, was due for a hoof trim!

Thankfully, my new farmher farrier friend, Meghan of MG Hoof Services, came to the rescue. If you’ve ever been part of a pig pedicure, you know the routine. The moment they’re gently flipped onto their back, they let out squeals that make you think the world is ending. In reality, it’s usually over in just a few minutes!

Bella certainly voiced her opinions about the whole process, but Meghan handled her with patience, confidence, and care. Before long, the trim was finished, the treats came out, and all was forgiven. Tail wags and happy snorts quickly replaced the dramatic protests.

A huge thank you to Meghan for keeping our farm friends comfortable and healthy. We’re so grateful to have such a knowledgeable and compassionate hoof care professional as part of our farm circle. 💚🐷

Have you ever witnessed a pig hoof trim? Let’s just say it’s an experience you won’t soon forget! 😄

Things we love about Silkie hens as mothers 🐥

• They are incredibly nurturing and attentive to their babies
• Watching the bond between mama hen and chicks is honestly one of the sweetest things on the farm
• They fiercely protect and teach their chicks from day one
• Last year we let our girls hatch their own eggs, and it made things so easy on the farming end
• No brooders, heat lamps, or constant chick babysitting for us because the moms handled it naturally
• The chicks seemed calmer and more confident being raised by their mothers
• There’s something really special about watching instincts and motherhood unfold naturally on the farm

This year, because of our roo-to-hen ratio, we ordered chicks from . One of the reasons we chose them is because they raise their roosters for meat rather than culling male chicks after sexing. Supporting more thoughtful and transparent farming practices matters deeply to us. 🤍

A quiet Memorial Day moment here on the farm 🇺🇸
Today we’re remembering and honoring those who gave their lives in service to our country. Grateful for the freedoms we often take for granted and for the families who carry those sacrifices with them every day.

From our farm to your family, wishing you a peaceful Memorial Day.

Fun fact: ramps are part of the wild onion family and can take up to 7 years to mature in the wild, which is why sustainable harvesting matters so much. 🌿

Fresh picked ramps turned into our savory Ramp Cheddar Scones, available this weekend at the Hulse Hill Farm Shop. Come grab one while the season lasts! 🧀🍃Open Fri-Sun. 10-6

Bridie’s Wednesday workday advice:
Slow down, find a comfy spot, snack a little, and don’t rush through the day. 🐐💛

Honestly, she might be onto something.

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting a private farm and fiber tour this past weekend for knitters attending the AffiKNITTY Retreat, and what a special gathering it was.

was truly honored to be part of retreat marketplace, connecting with makers from across the country as well as right here in our own community. The warmth, curiosity, and enthusiasm everyone brought to the table made it an unforgettable experience. The response to our American cashmere yarns has been incredibly humbling, and we are so grateful.

Sunday’s tour was our largest to date, and it was such a joy to spend time with fellow knitters diving into the details that make this fiber so special. We talked about the science behind cashmere, fiber standards, sorting and grading, and how thoughtful blending decisions shape the best possible finished yarn. These are the conversations we love most, where craft meets intention and knowledge deepens appreciation.

We also walked away inspired by your ideas. Hearing what fellow yarn lovers hope to see next is invaluable, and we are already dreaming a bit with you.

If you are local, we host farm tours once a month and always welcome the opportunity to share more about the journey from goat to skein.
