Gina from Creative Twist is setting up and I believe a few other vendors. There will be flea markets leading up to Fortescue also people have been passing me by saying they are going to have one because there hopefully will be a lot of traffic coming to Fortescue. I love that we can carry on Betty Higbee’s tradition.
I miss seeing her and Higbee’s breakfast so much. I know everyone else does. ❤️

Today is the day! Monday, June 1st at 12:00 noon EST. My first of many “WEIRD” shows on whatnot. I will have strange & odd jewelry and items with some normal jewelry mixed in. Hoping for a fun show that I can do at least once or twice a year mostly so I can wear costumes.

Selling on Whatnot these past few months has changed my life for the better in so many ways. I have met such a fun community of people, some who I consider friends already who I know will turn into family over time.
The show is just me talking and selling jewelry that I have been collecting for over 30 years and am still collecting when I find pieces I know that I love and that others will love. It is very personal for me. When I hold an item in my hand I realize that somewhere out there, there is someone who will love it and wear it and enjoy it. It will have its own story. When I am “working” going through jewelry, picking pieces out, doing my own show now, the hours pass and I lose track of time. I believe it is called flow. It is some of my most favorite time in this Earth. Same with the vintage items I find at flea markets, thrift stores, rescue from the trash, etc. I love styling stuff in my house and my garage and am moving more towards curating them rather than just throwing on a shelf or in a box to sell. I think in my mind it is all finally coming together. All the magazines I have looked at, all the home improvement and interior design shows I have watched, all the houses I have looked at for years, all the Instagram accounts I now stalk (thanks Kristen). I have the items, now it is time to show people how they can use them in their own homes and lives. I have a plan.

We are delighted to share that we will remain open throughout the season and look forward to continuing to serve our wonderful community.
Yes, the restaurant is currently for sale, but aside from introducing some exciting new menu items, it is truly business as usual. We have no plans of closing anytime soon and are committed to keeping this special place going strong. Your continued support means everything to us and is what allows us to continue serving you each day.
Our restaurant proudly supports a staff of more than 20 hardworking people whose livelihoods depend on your patronage. Julian is still our chef, and we remain dedicated to providing the same great experience our customers have always loved. We have also worked hard to make dining with us more affordable by lowering prices through operational changes, allowing more people to come in and enjoy the restaurant.
I personally want to thank all of our loyal customers for supporting me throughout this journey. I am also deeply grateful to our fellow local restaurant owners who have generously shared ideas, advice, and encouragement along the way.
This local treasure has been part of the community for more than 100 years. Jim and Shirley proudly owned it for 28 years before me, and Tom Hunt for 25 years before them. I am truly honored to be part of such an iconic history and look forward to continuing that tradition for years to come.
