Some stories come full circle.

Long before Longneck Manor, Rick Barongi helped introduce the okapi to the Houston Zoo. Today, he envisions a new chapter for this extraordinary species with plans for a future Okapi Forest Habitat at Longneck Manor.

Often called the “forest giraffe,” the okapi is the giraffe’s only living relative, yet it remains one of the world’s most elusive and lesser-known animals. Native to the rainforests of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, okapis are endangered, facing threats that make conservation efforts more important than ever.

This World Okapi Day, we celebrate these remarkable animals and the people dedicated to protecting their future. We look forward to the day we can welcome okapis to Longneck Manor and help more people discover why this rare species deserves our attention, our respect, and our protection. 🌿

Because conservation is about more than the animals we know and love. It’s also about protecting the ones the world can’t afford to lose.

Windblown, golf-tested, and all for a great cause! ⛳💨🦏

The wind certainly made things interesting at our Longneck Manor Conservation Golf Classic yesterday, but it couldn't blow away what mattered most: $20,000 raised for wildlife conservation!

We have to give a major shout-out to Chris Meade and his team at the Ladybird Johnson Golf Course for all of their help putting together this first annual fundraiser.

We are incredibly grateful to every player who joined us, every sponsor who stepped up, every donor who contributed, and every volunteer who helped make this tournament a success. Your support makes a real difference for wildlife and the future of conservation.

A huge thank-you to everyone who braved the elements, supported our mission, and helped make this day about so much more than golf.
