It's a winter wonderland at Colorado National Monument! We received a lovely layer of snow overnight, creating beautiful contrast in the park. This photo shows this morning's rolling fog hanging quietly among the red rocks in Monument and Wedding Canyons, with Independence Monument standing tall above the snow.

If you're planning to visit, drive carefully. The road has been plowed and sanded, but it is snow-packed and icy in places. Also be on the lookout for bighorn sheep—we've had multiple sightings along Rim Rock Drive this week.

For current road conditions, call (970) 858‐3617 ext. 350.

Snow on Colorado National Monument has a way of pressing pause. It doesn’t snow often here, but when it does, everything lights up differently. The canyons, the big open views, even Fruita itself, all of it settles into a slower pace. It’s a brief change in the desert rhythm, and sometimes, gone as quickly as it arrives.
