The year was 1917. The U.S. entered World War I, jazz was on the rise, women were marching for the vote, and the world was changing fast.

And somewhere in the middle of all that, this tiger oak buffet was being built.

More than a century later, it’s still turning heads with beautiful tiger oak grain, original hardware, its key, and a mirror with the kind of darkened patina only time can create.

Bug tried to kill me this morning.

Her preferred method is hiding under the bed, waiting until I walk by, then reaching out from the shadows to take out an ankle.

And now here she is, tucked underneath the fringe of my chenille bedspread looking like a delicate little Victorian lady who has never committed a crime in her sweet little life.

Blue Skies is now Blue Heron and has a new very nice owner’s. I visited with them the other day and got to see the home. If you are looking for a rental in Galveston the amenities and location are hard to beat. 🙂
