Baby bear season is finally back at Heiden on Echo. This year we have a Momma with 2 cubs and this Mom with a single cub. We can’t wait to watch them grow up over the next year. (Don’t worry, this bear found Mom a little later)

We can’t promise you’ll see bears daily at Heiden on Echo but we sort of can!

POV: You're minding your business at the cabin and your deck has a new visitor who did not RSVP.

This big guy strolled right across the deck at Heiden on Echo like he owned the place. Our guest caught the whole thing safely from inside which, honestly, is the only right call here. 🐻

The doormat says "Glad You're Here." We meant that for the two-legged guests, but apparently the bear can read.

Wildlife moments like this are part of what makes staying in the Smokies so unforgettable. This isn't a zoo, it's their backyard, and we're just lucky guests.

🔒 Always lock your car doors and never leave food in your vehicle. Watch wildlife safely from indoors or at a distance. These bears are wild and should stay that way.

You know how most vacation rentals say "outdoor space" and it's just a plastic chair and a rusty grill?
Yeah. Heiden on Echo is not that. 🏔️

We have four distinct outdoor spaces — and we built every one of them to actually be used.
A deck with rocking chairs and seasonal mountain views for the morning people. A covered pavilion with a fire table, teak sectional, and a grill for the night people. A private covered hot tub gazebo for the "I am not moving from this spot" people. And a fully accessible handicap ramp so nobody in your group misses a single moment of it.

Because the best part of the Smoky Mountains is being outside in them.

Rain or shine. Sunrise to midnight. Heiden on Echo has a spot for everyone. 🐻

This review means more to us than you know.

When we renovated Heiden on Echo, we wanted every single guest — regardless of age or mobility — to feel welcome, comfortable, and fully included in the experience. The handicap ramp, the wide open living spaces, the walk-in showers — none of that was an accident. It was intentional from day one.

Because family reunions and group trips don't always look the same. Sometimes Grandma comes too. And she deserves the mountains just as much as everyone else. 🏔️

An 86-year-old matriarch watching snow fall over the Smokies with a hot cup of cocoa from our cocoa bar. Honestly? That image right there is exactly what Heiden on Echo was made for.

There's something that happens when you pull up to a cabin like this.

The group chat goes quiet. Phones slip into pockets. Someone says "wait... is that a bear?" and suddenly everyone is present in a way they haven't been in months.

That's Heiden on Echo.

A place where 14 people can spread out and still end up in the same room, laughing around a fire. Where the kids disappear into their own little world and the adults finally remember how to exhale. Where the mountains do that thing they do — where everything that felt urgent back home just... doesn't anymore.
The bears were here long before us. They'll be here long after. But for a few days? This place is yours.
