The Appalachian Hellbender may look like something from the dinosaur age, but this incredible salamander still lives in the clear mountain streams of East Tennessee today!

Often called the "snot otter" or "mud devil," the Hellbender can grow nearly 2 feet long and spends most of its life hiding beneath large rocks in cool, fast-moving streams. Because they require exceptionally clean water to survive, they're considered one of nature's best indicators of a healthy ecosystem.

🚧 A little dirt, a lot of teamwork, and one campground we love even more. 🌿

Last week, the team rolled up their sleeves for our Spring Working Day, and let’s just say... it wasn’t all sunshine and pretty flowers (although we planted some of those too 😉).

From landscaping touch-ups and cabin improvements to organizing projects and all those behind-the-scenes tasks that help keep the campground running smoothly, it was truly an all-hands-on-deck kind of week.

The funny thing about campground improvements? Most of the best work is the stuff you never notice. The freshly cleaned spaces, the organized storage areas, the little repairs, and the details that make your stay feel effortless.

So if your next visit feels a little fresher, a little cleaner, and a little more welcoming, just know there was a whole crew working hard behind the scenes to make it happen.
