🥾 One of my new favorite trails! The Middle Prong Trail near Townsend is one of the most scenic and less crowded hikes in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

What to expect:

Approximately 8.3 miles round trip if you hike to the end and back.

Follows an old railroad grade, making the elevation gain gradual.

Features multiple waterfalls, cascades, and creek views along the way.

Passes remnants of the historic logging operations that once existed in the area.

Suitable for most hikers due to the relatively easy grade, though the distance can be challenging.

Trailhead Location
The trail begins in the Tremont area, a short drive from Townsend.

Best time to visit
Spring: Wildflowers and flowing waterfalls.
Summer: Shaded and cooler than many Smokies hikes.
Fall: Beautiful foliage colors.

After a good rain: The cascades are especially impressive.

Many locals consider this one of the hidden gems of the Smokies because it offers the beauty of the park without the crowds often found near Cades Cove or Laurel Falls.

💡 One of my favorite little “ah-ha” moments at The Cajun Condo was adding a condiment box for our guests.

When you're traveling, it's often the simple things that get forgotten—mustard, ketchup, mayo, seasonings, coffee creamer, or that one ingredient you need for a meal. I know I've been there myself!

The condiment box may not always have everything you're looking for, but I do my best to keep it stocked with useful items left by guests and replenished when needed. It's one of those small touches that can make your stay a little easier and help you feel more at home.

Sometimes it's the little things that make the biggest difference.
