I was never going back to Asia. Or so I thought.

Since starting a deep healing journey Iā€™ve surprised myself with what Iā€™ve said yes to. Bali was one of them.

I arrived already cracked open. The first day I cried and cried ā€” I wasnā€™t sad.

Bali is the only Hindu island in a nation of 17,000. The Balinese believe the entire island is sacred. Every doorway. Every direction. They make offerings multiple times a day ā€” not as obligation, as conversation with the unseen.

It doesnā€™t create the opening. It just makes it harder to stay closed. What started in September took me to a deeper place Im still understanding

My sister reached out 3Ā½ weeks before. I thought I was done with Asia. Travel burnout had me convinced I was closed.

I said no. By the afternoon I said yes.

Bali is the only Hindu island in a nation of 17,000. The Balinese believe the entire island is sacred ā€” not just the temples, the mountains, the rivers, every doorway, every direction. They make offerings multiple times a day. Not as obligation. As conversation with the unseen. The island is in constant ceremony.

It doesnā€™t create the opening. It just makes it harder to stay closed.

This was only day one.

6 hour layover in Manila . 4 hours in LAX. 20 minutes to make my connection to get home at DFW.

Being cranky doesnā€™t change it. Being grumpy doesnā€™t change it. Your nervous system is already exhausted from the time zone alone. You have to fully surrender and hope for the best.

Nobody posts this part of travel. And it is a reality. Regardless of however it turns out- itā€™s always worth it but it can be very hard on your nervous system.

put us there. But nothing about this was scripted.

No stage. No ticket. No performance for the tourists.

Just torches, the ocean, and something my nervous system recognized before my brain did.

This is what happens when you stop curating your life and start showing up for it. Iā€™ve been fortunate to have traveled a lot in my life- hind sight is 20/20 for this being my first backroads trip. More to come- one of the most authentic, cultural, bonding experiences of my life.
