What a week!

Last Thursday, the dining room at Saint Jacques belonged to Burgundy.

Five courses. Four w**e pairings. A Boeuf Bourguignon that had been going since morning, served over spinach fettuccini and finished at the table. The kind of evening that reminds you why you make reservations.

The cooking demonstration was Saturday. The dining room smelled like a French countryside kitchen, and Chef Lil’s Boeuf Bourguignon did exactly what it always does — stopped the room.

Thursday, it goes further.

Yesterday’s cooking demonstration was everything we hoped it would be.

Chef Lil walked a full house through Authentic Boeuf Bourguignon — a slow French braise that filled the dining room with something that smelled like a Sunday in Burgundy. Then came the Blueberry Crème Brulée. That caramelized crust. That custard. The room got very quiet.

Last night, the rain came down, the power went out at 8pm, and Kappa Sigma didn’t miss a beat.

The Burke Manor Pavilion was ready — and so were they. Some parties don’t need the lights on.
