Edwardsville Masonic Lodge held a Breakfast Fundraiser benefitting the primary charity of our Brothers in the Scottish Rite, the Children's Dyslexia Center, on June 17th. The Lodge served biscuits & gravy with scrambled eggs to 50 patrons attending the event. Thanks to the generous donations collected, we were able to raise $1,150 for the Dyslexia Center. Additionally, our Grand Lodge's own Illinois Masonic Children's Assistance Program (IMCAP) graciously approved a matching funds gift of $1,015 towards our efforts, bringing the total donation to $2,165. The proceeds from the breakfast and IMCAP donation were presented to the Board of Directors of the Dyslexia Center at their board meeting on June 28th.

We'd like to extend a huge thank you to everyone that came out and supported this very worthy cause!

A couple years ago, we became aware of a need within a local school through an acquaintance of one of our members. That need was for supplies and specialized equipment in the Special Needs class of Mrs. Amanda Murphy at Albert Cassens Elementary in Glen Carbon. Unfortunately, the needs were above and beyond what budget constraints would cover.

For these past couple years we have been blessed enough to be able to support Mrs. Murphy and the work she does with some additional funds. This year, we were made aware of a potential grant program from one of our primary Grand Lodge Charities - the Illinois Masonic Children's Assistance Program (IMCAP). Thanks to the grant program from IMCAP, we were able to present Mrs. Murphy with a check for $1,000 to use towards her classroom needs.

Teachers play such an important role in the lives of our children, and we are thrilled to be able to assist Mrs. Murphy and Albert Cassens Elementary in this way.

(Included in the picture receiving the check is Amanda Murphy, 5th grade special education teacher; Katie Bevis-O'Neal, Principal at Albert Cassens Elementary; Jeff Cassens, Harry Glass and David Hutt - members of Edwardsville Masonic Lodge.)
