🍂 FALL WEEKENDS AT CABINS AT CASTOR 🍂

Cooler temps are coming, and you know what that means around here… SxS riding weather! 🛻💨🌲

If you’ve been thinking about a fall getaway, we still have some weekend availability for September & October:

🏡 Sept. 25–27 — 3 cabins available
🏡 Oct. 2–4 — 3 cabins available
🏡 Oct. 9–11 — 1 cabin available
🏡 Oct. 16–18 — 3 cabins available
🏡 Oct. 30–Nov. 1 — 3 cabins available

Weekday stays are available too!

And we’ve been busy exploring! 🗺️ We’re working on more SxS/backroad ride maps that our guests can use right from the cabins. Gravel roads, creek crossings, beautiful scenery and some fun stops along the way!

🛻 NEW SxS RIDE FROM CABINS AT CASTOR!

We’ve been working on something fun for our guests! ❤️

We mapped out a scenic SxS route from Cabins at Castor to Castor River Shut-Ins (Pink Rocks) using mostly gravel and back roads!

The route is approximately 35 miles one way, but don’t let the mileage fool you — this can easily turn into an all-day adventure if you take your time, explore and make stops along the way. 🌲

Along the route you can:

💦 Stop and check out Sycamore Valley Artesian Well
🌊 Enjoy a couple of creek crossings
🍦 Cruise through Marquand and stop at Num-Nums Sweet Shop — highly recommended!
🪨 End your ride at the beautiful Castor River Shut-Ins/Pink Rocks

⚠️ A little advice before you head out: Come prepared! Gas stations are limited along this route, so we highly recommend taking an extra gas can. Pack some drinks and snacks too, because once you start exploring, you may decide you don’t want to hurry back!

We’ve mapped out the turns for our guests so you can spend less time figuring out where to go and more time enjoying the ride.

The quiet before the crowd… ☕🌲

Ran down to the cabins this morning to put something away and had to stop for a minute and enjoy just how peaceful it was.

Coffee in hand, nothing but the sounds of the woods, and that calm that comes before a busy holiday weekend. 🤎

It won’t be this quiet for long! The river will be buzzing, SxS’s will be rolling, and everyone will be soaking up one last big weekend of summer.

For now though… I’m enjoying the quiet. ☕🌿

We’ve had a few people ask about our stairs, so we wanted to make sure everyone knows — the stairs are for guests of ALL THREE Cabins at Castor cabins to use! ❤️

They’re centrally located so they can be shared by everyone, whether you’re staying in the Lily Pad, Rabbit Hole, or Owl’s Nest.

So if you’re staying in one of our end cabins, don’t hesitate to walk over and use them — they’re there for you too! 😊

We’re always listening to our guests and looking for ways to make your stay with us even better. 🌲

The days are still warm, the evenings are starting to cool down, and we’re getting into one of our favorite times of year at Cabins at Castor.

Bring the SxS and spend the day exploring. Head down to the river. Visit one of our little local towns. Then come back, build a fire with the firewood we provide, and enjoy a quiet evening in the woods. 🔥🌲

🍂 Cooling Temps Mean More SxS Rides!

One of our favorite things about cooler weather coming is more SxS rides! 🙌

Steve and I loaded up and took the SxS to Fredericktown to check out Sounds Around the Square. But around here, getting there is half the fun!

We cruised backroads, crossed creeks, rode by open pastures, took in some beautiful Southeast Missouri scenery… and even got caught in a sheep stampede along the way. 😂🐑🐑🐑

We ended the evening in Fredericktown enjoying the music, classic cars and a beautiful sunset. ❤️

This is one of the things we love most about our area. You can leave the cabins, hop on your SxS and turn a simple evening out into an adventure.

Two years ago today… ❤️

It’s hard to believe this is what Cabins at Castor looked like exactly two years ago today.

Just woods, trees, equipment, sawdust…and a vision of what we hoped this little piece of property could someday become. 🌲

We started clearing the land, cutting trees and making room for three little cabins in the woods. At the time, it was hard to picture what it would eventually look like.

And now, two years later, I look at that last picture and almost can’t believe it’s the same place. 🥹

So much work, so many long days, and a whole lot of “are we sure about this?” moments went into getting from there to here. 😂 But seeing people come stay, relax, make memories and enjoy this place makes all of it worth it.

We’re still learning, growing and dreaming up what’s next for Cabins at Castor, but today I’m just really proud of how far we’ve come. ❤️
