Camp Zimmerman

Camp Zimmerman Christian Camp & Retreat Center He was an avid naturalist and advocate for the preservation of natural resources. The foundation is a non-profit organization.

In 1954 nearly 200 acres of land were donated by Gnadenhutten, Ohio native John Zimmerman to the Three Rivers District of the Methodist Church. Zimmerman was known to take children into the forest on hikes and educate them on plants and trees and nature in general. The camp was operated as a Christian Youth Camp for several years. The camp was then transferred into the care of the Camp Zimmerman F

oundation that consists of representatives from local churches as well as At-Large community members. The foundation has a Board of Trustees that oversees the operation and maintenance of the camp. The organization’s goal is to provide low cost camping to all groups. A camp management team resides on site full time to serve the needs of the campers and maintain the camp.

Going though my "papers from years past" I dug up this oldie but goodie. From somewhere back in the late 1980's to the early 1990's. When my grandparents Jack and Sally Furbay were the Caretakers this was the map of Camp Zimmerman.

Fast forward as I am getting ready to start plotting the new digital map for Camp Zimmerman. This should allow users to map their position along the trails as they exist today. Removed from the busy life of town but we do manage to get cellular service to the majority of CZ.
