Last week we said goodbye to our firefighters. We miss them dearly! They were all so kind even though they were fighting the fire nonstop. And then, on top of that, they kept asking to help. They helped move things, played with our dogs and guests' and staff's kids, and even started an assembly line stickering stuffed animals for the gift shop!
In return we fed them 48 POUNDS of bacon in two days! (Sorry had to add that stat in there)!!
Over the many days we had a core group with us for over ten days, then several other groups rotating in. They became part of our everyday and family in a way uniquely crafted by community, coming together, and helping others.
Every part of the Wildcatter team worked together to ensure firefighters had what they needed day or night, with and without notice, feeding and cleaning on odd schedules and just being amazing (we have the best team!)!
We can't wait to host these heroes again when they bring their families back. Prayers as the Palo Pinto fire continues to be mopped up and danger with this heat is still very much real. Thank you again and again to the first responders, volunteers, and all those who donated to help the fire departments.
