Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Buxton Inn for some Halloween fun! We loved seeing your costumes and smiling faces.

We hope you had a chance to meet our new and Innkeeper, Enrico, and his wife, Judith, who joined in as his witchy helper today. If you haven’t met Enrico yet, please stop by and say hello—he looks forward to meeting you and making you feel right at home at the Inn. Welcome to the team, Enrico!

A little history and a little Halloween mystery at the Buxton Inn.

Established in 1812 as “The Tavern,” the Buxton welcomed stagecoach travelers, while drivers found warm meals and a place to sleep in the cellar.

According to Buxton tradition, the old stairs even feature a “burglar step”—an unusually high step meant to trip up a fleeing thief! Folklore also tells of the friendly Tavern Boy, said to enjoy a seat on those stairs from time-to-time. Many guests have claimed to have seen him...

Today, our new Tavern entrance joins the old entry as we welcome new memories while keeping our favorite stories close.

The Buckeyes are on the road this Saturday, but you don’t have to go far for good company and a big screen.

Join us in The Buxton Inn courtyard this Saturday, October 17, for Ohio State vs. Indiana on our new 10′ × 6′ outdoor TV. We’ll have the grill going, a cash bar, and plenty of Buckeye spirit.

Tailgate: 11:30 AM–4 PM · Kickoff: Noon
Grilled brats $10 · Hot dogs $8

This October, we’re dusting off a few of the Buxton Inn’s favorite legends, from the Lady in Blue and the mystery of Room 9 to Major, the much-loved cat behind our familiar sign.
