Lavender Season is Here! 💜 Are you ready to bring your creativity to the lavender fields and surrounding areas?

It’s that time of year we’ve all been waiting for—lavender season at Uncommon Ranch!

As the fields burst into bloom, we’re opening the ranch for plein air painting, sketching, photography, and creative inspiration of every kind. We’ll be opening the fields early and staying open later so you can capture that magical golden hour light that makes the lavender glow.Watch for open dates early July.

In the arts, plein air refers to the act of painting outdoors, capturing the landscape and natural light directly in front of the artist.
The technique was historically limited, but became wildly popular among the French Impressionists (like Claude Monet). Watch for open dates early July.

Your instructor:
We're excited to welcome Cynde Pavelgio, acclaimed artist and owner of The Mermaid Shop in Roscommon, Michigan who will be sharing her expertise, creative insights, and passion for helping artists of all levels develop their skills and confidence. Whether you're picking up a sketchbook for the first time or returning to a lifelong creative practice, you'll be inspired by her approachable teaching style and artistic experience.

This class is designed to help you feel comfortable and prepared to create in the field. All skill levels are welcome, and all materials are included—just bring your curiosity and creativity.

Come slow down, breathe in the fragrance of summer, and experience the beauty of lavender season with us.

It’s officially summer at the Ranch!

We’ve started our summer hours: Wednesday–Saturday, 10 AM – 4 PM. Our café is now open, and people are raving about Chef Kaytie’s bakery treats: vanilla scones, brown butter & lavender shortbread, Midnight Mocha cookies, and something decadent we call our Golden Square 01 (just ask for a sample!). Our specialty coffee and tea drinks are also receiving five-star reviews — Lavender Honey Lattes, Dreamy London Fogs, and our house-made Lavender Lemonade.

Things may look VERY different if you haven’t visited since last summer. We’ve completed and moved into our newest building, The Retreat ( #16 on the map). The Retreat is now home to our Art Café, the Uncommon Studio featuring 15 founding Michigan fine artists, a wellness room for yoga, our farm store, and an evolving gathering space for special events.

This new building is situated on the east side of our three lavender fields, which are open for exploring during business hours.

Parking has also changed. When you enter the gate, you will be directed to the right and around the back of The Retreat. Parking is located on the north side of the building. Access to the barn and livestock areas is available via paths through the fields.

For the safety of both our guests and animals, we kindly ask that you do not bring pets to the Ranch.

Please note that smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property. We live within a heavily forested area that is highly susceptible to wildfire, and we appreciate your help in protecting the Ranch and surrounding natural landscape.

This Saturday we will the cafe early due to our Butterfly Ball charity event.

The café at The Uncommon Ranch is opening.

We are thrilled to officially welcome you to our art cafe at The Uncommon Ranch beginning this Friday (5/22) & Saturday (5/23) from 10 AM – 4 PM.

Set beside the lavender fields and inside The Retreat, the cafe was thoughtfully created as an extension of the ranch itself - where art, nature, culinary experiences, and gathering come together in one beautiful space.

Enjoy a café experience inspired by slow mornings, European tea culture, lavender in bloom, and the creative spirit of The Uncommon Studio.
