We caught this little cutie taking a spa bath at the Ranch!

A black bear sits comfortably in one of the steel water troughs kept around The Uncommon Ranch property in Grayling.

Christian Anschuetz of The Uncommon Ranch said the troughs are kept filled with fresh water for wildlife, particularly during dry weather.

“We’re choosing to believe he somehow got his paws on some of our lavender soap and decided it was time for a little late-night spa day,” he said.

Savoring the slower days.

There’s something magical about the Ranch at harvest.

The lavender fields are being cut, the copper stills are working, and the scent of freshly distilled lavender drifts through the air. It’s the beautiful culmination of a season that began months ago—and one of our favorite rituals of the year.

And while the lavender takes center stage, the rest of the Ranch is quietly putting on its late-summer show. Dahlias are opening, allium are dancing above the gardens, and sunflowers are reaching toward these last golden days of August.

For now, we’re harvesting, distilling, creating and enjoying a slightly slower rhythm.

We’ll see you again this fall. 🍂

Every season at The Uncommon Ranch has its own purpose.
Saturday, August 8 will be the final day of our regular summer hours as we conclude another beautiful lavender season.

From late summer through the winter months, Uncommon Ranch becomes something different - a place of slower moments, thoughtful creation, and carefully curated experiences. During this time, we step away from daily public hours to focus on the harvest, craft the products you’ll enjoy throughout the coming year, and prepare for a new season of inspiration.

While our regular schedule pauses, the Ranch doesn’t disappear.

Our Art Studio and Café are also expected to reopen on select days this fall, beginning mid-September, with a limited schedule that reflects the quieter rhythm of the season.

Our online shop will continue to offer our handcrafted lavender collection and original artwork from the Uncommon Studio. Private appointments will remain available by reservation, and we’ll be announcing a limited collection of intimate seasonal experiences, workshops, and special gatherings throughout the fall and winter as they are released.

And always open, 365 days of the year, our custom homes are here to welcome you for an Uncommon stay.

If you’ve been thinking about visiting the lavender fields one more time, we’d love to welcome you before August 8.

And if you’ve already shared this lavender season with us, thank you. Your support has helped make another unforgettable summer at the Ranch.

We’re looking forward to sharing what comes next.

Open until August 8th from 10-4 Wednesday through Saturday. Watch for reopening in September.

The lavender fields at The Uncommon Ranch clearly takes the top spot on why people visit, however, our Uncommon Ranch Vanilla Cream Scones are giving our fields some competition! 🪻🪻🪻. Come for the lavender, stay a while and taste the goodness of our daily baked treats, teas and coffee.
