Thirty years ago, these rooms were waiting for their stories to begin.

In 1996, the newly restored General Morgan Inn opened its doors, welcoming Greeneville back into a building that had already witnessed generations of local history. These photographs capture those first days: a lobby ready for guests, tables set at Brumley’s, the Library prepared for dinner, and a ballroom awaiting its first celebration.

Then life moved in.

Weddings, anniversaries, holiday dinners, friendships, familiar faces, and countless ordinary moments became part of the story. Thirty years later, those moments have made the General Morgan Inn what it is today.

Join us Friday, September 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the lobby for our 30th Anniversary Celebration, with complimentary punch and anniversary cake.

The photographs show where we began. Come celebrate everything that followed.

Nature, Reimagined in the Mason House Gallery. 🎨

Color, movement, gemstones, memory, and the beauty of the natural world come together this September at the General Morgan Inn.

Now on display in the Mason House Gallery, “Force of Nature: Paintings, Jewelry and Photography” brings together the work of regional artists Amy Benedict of Asheville and Terri Haught.

Terri transforms her fascination with symmetry, color, and the natural geometry of gemstones into one-of-a-kind jewelry. Amy, an oil painter, musician, and dancer, finds inspiration in the vibrancy of nature, favorite culinary flavors, and memories created around the table with family and friends.

Together, their work creates a gallery filled with two distinct perspectives and one shared source of inspiration: the world around us.

“Force of Nature” is on display September 1–30 in the Mason House Gallery at the General Morgan Inn.

Stop by this month, wander through the gallery, and discover what happens when nature becomes the artist’s starting point. ✨

Today, we celebrated the people behind the hospitality. 💚

For National Hotel Employee Day, we traded our usual routines for a day dedicated to the incredible team that keeps the General Morgan Inn moving.

We laughed our way through team-building exercises, put our Greeneville knowledge to the test with local history and trivia, enjoyed a wonderful catered lunch, and, most importantly, spent some well-deserved time together.

A hotel is so much more than a beautiful building. It is the people who welcome you at the door, prepare your meals, make your room feel like home, plan your celebrations, solve the unexpected, and take care of countless details you may never see.

Today was about celebrating them. To our General Morgan Inn family, thank you for everything you bring through these doors each day. Happy National Hotel Employee Day! 💚

The Sign Came Down. The Story Carried On.

In November 1976, the Hotel Brumley sign came down, quietly closing a chapter that had long been part of downtown Greeneville.

Twenty years later, the General Morgan Inn opened its doors, beginning an era all its own.

This September, we celebrate 30 years of that remarkable story and everyone who has helped write it. Join us Friday, September 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the lobby for complimentary punch and anniversary cake as we gather to remember, reconnect, and celebrate.

One building. Many chapters. And a story still being written.

A taste of Greeneville for a wonderful cause. 🌾🍴

Chef Jordan Greene and Angie Lawson represented the General Morgan Inn family at The Farmer & The Chef, an evening of local food tastings and an auction benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee.

Chef Jordan served his Sorghum-Glazed Pulled Brisket, featuring Hillfarm microgreens grown right here in Greeneville, while Angie brought something sweet to the table with her Local Raspberry & Chocolate Dessert Shooter, made with local raspberries.

We were proud to have General Morgan Inn & Brumley’s and Brumley’s Catering by Angeez sharing a taste of Greeneville while supporting an organization that puts food on tables throughout Northeast Tennessee. ❤️

Today’s Brumley’s Catering by Angeez Takeover is in the books, and we want to send a big thank you to everyone who spent their lunchtime with us!

But Angeez is already cooking up the next one.

On Friday, September 25, the takeover returns with a Taco Bar made for building your plate exactly the way you like it. 🌮 Seasoned ground beef, shredded chicken, queso, guacamole, fresh toppings, Spanish rice, beans, chips and salsa are all on the table, followed by Peanut Butter Pie and Brookies for something sweet.

The doors open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the full spread at $19.99 per person, plus tax and gratuity.

One Friday. Two hours. One very good reason to make lunch plans. See you September 25!

Same Walls. A New Chapter.

Before the General Morgan Inn reopened in 1996, this stretch of the property looked remarkably different. Today, those same brick walls frame the Mason House Gallery, where the work of local and regional artists brings color and creativity to a space with plenty of history of its own.

It is just one corner of the General Morgan Inn, but its transformation tells a much bigger story. Thirty years ago, an old building in downtown Greeneville was given a new life. Three decades later, it reminds us just how much can happen when a community believes an old building still has stories left to tell.

On Friday, September 18th, we invite that community back through our doors. Join us in the lobby from 4 to 6 p.m. for complimentary punch and anniversary cake as we celebrate 30 years of the General Morgan Inn. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.

For 30 years, every guest has become part of our story. Come write your own. 💚

Greeneville, you’re invited to our birthday party. 🎉🎂

This September marks 30 years since the General Morgan Inn reopened its doors, and a milestone like this deserves to be celebrated with the community that has been part of it from the very beginning.

So, on Friday, September 18, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., we’re filling the lobby with birthday cake, punch, familiar faces, old friends, and plenty of reasons to celebrate.

Stop in on your way through downtown. Bring a friend. Bring someone who remembers 1996. Come tell us about the wedding you attended here, the anniversary you celebrated, the dinner you still remember, or the countless other ways the General Morgan Inn has found its way into your life.

There are no tickets and no reservations. The celebration is free, open to everyone, and includes complimentary anniversary cake and punch.

After all, you only turn 30 once. We’d love to celebrate it with you.
