Meet Allison Hummel
--Guest Services Representative

This week, we’re turning the Employee Spotlight on Allison Hummel, one of our Guest Services Representatives here at Skyway!

🏡 Hometown
--Allison was raised in and still calls Benton, Pennsylvania home. Don’t blink, or you just might miss the little town she loves! Benton is the kind of small town where nearly everyone knows everyone, and it’s completely normal to see Amish families tying up their horses while they run into the bank or passing by her home in a horse and buggy.

🩺 Life Outside of Skyway
--Before joining the Skyway team, Allison built a career centered around caring for others. She has worked in healthcare for the past 20 years, with one of her proudest accomplishments being graduating from Penn State University in 2018. She went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse in 2019.

This season, Allison decided to trade in her stethoscope & scrubs for campground life and join forces with her significant other, Jason, here at Skyway. As a Guest Services Representative for Applebrook RV Parks, Allison helps with the day-to-day operations of the resort and enjoys being part of creating a welcoming experience for our guests.

💕 Her Greatest Pride & Joy
--Above everything else, Allison’s greatest pride and joy are her two girls, Ezahrie and Quinnley. Family means everything to her, and they are at the heart of everything she does.

🌎 Favorite Part of Working at Skyway
--For Allison, it’s the people.

One of her favorite things about working at Skyway is meeting guests from all different places and walks of life. She especially loves hearing where people have traveled from, learning a little about their stories, and discovering what brought them to Skyway.

She thinks it’s pretty amazing when guests travel from other states and even other countries — and choose our little corner of the Catskills as the place where they want to spend their time and make memories.

🌿 Favorite Place at Skyway
--The Pond.

There’s something about its simplicity that Allison loves. Sitting near the water, slowing down and listening to the crickets chirp during the summer evenings is a reminder that sometimes the simplest moments are the best ones.

🌎 Fun Fact
--Allison has traveled overseas as a short-term missionary to South America, where she helped serve thousands of people in and around Tacna, Peru.

It was an experience that allowed her to meet and serve people from a completely different part of the world — something that helped shape her love of learning about people, their lives and their stories.

🔥 Favorite Skyway Memory
--One of Allison’s favorite memories at Skyway wasn't a big event or activity. It was simply sitting around a campfire with a seasonal camper who has been coming to Skyway since he was a child.

She loved listening to his stories about what Skyway was like years ago, learning how much the campground has changed and grown through the generations, and talking about what Skyway has become today.

For Allison, that conversation represented something special about Skyway — appreciating where it came from while still seeing all the potential for what it can continue to become for every new family and guest who pulls up to Skyway.

Join us October 10th at the Skyway Clubhouse for an evening of Bingo, snacks, laughs, and good company! ❤️

Come at 6:30 PM to grab a bite, visit with everyone, and get settled in. Bingo calling begins at 7:15 PM!

🥨 Jason & Allison will provide chips, cookies, Hawaiian meatballs, iced tea, and water.

🌟 EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: KAYLA DEGRAW 🌟

This week, we’re excited to shine our Employee Spotlight on Kayla Degraw, one of our Pool Supervisors & Housekeepers here at Skyway Camping Resort!

Kayla grew up in Middletown, New York, and currently resides in Sparrowbush, NY, with her significant other, Kevin, and their Dalmatian, Skye. 🐾

⛺ FROM CAMPING AS A FAMILY TO SKYWAY EMPLOYEE

Kayla’s Skyway story began in 2021, when she and her significant other Kevin started camping here in a pop-up camper. It didn’t take long for Kayla to fall in love with Skyway and everything that makes our campground special.

That love eventually led her to become part of the Skyway team! Kayla previously worked with us during the 2023 and 2024 seasons and returned again for the 2026 season.

As one of our Pool Supervisors, Kayla spends much of her time working in one of her favorite places at Skyway — the pool! Throughout the summer, she helps oversee the pool area, interacts with our guests, and helps make sure families can enjoy their time swimming, relaxing, and making summertime memories together. ☀️🏊‍♀️

Her favorite part of working here is meeting both new and returning guests and working by the pool.

When asked why she loves working at Skyway, Kayla shared:

❤️ “Skyway is my second home. They’re more than just friends — they’ve become my summer family.”

🔥 A LOVE FOR CAMPING THAT STARTED YOUNG

Camping has been a special part of Kayla’s life since childhood. She fondly remembers her mom and dad taking her and her sister camping every season, sometimes spending an entire month together camping as a family.

Those childhood summers are where Kayla’s love for camping began, and today, one of her favorite camping memories is simply being able to sit back, relax around the campfire, and enjoy the moment.

🪽 IF KAYLA COULD HAVE ONE SUPERPOWER...

Kayla’s answer is one that comes straight from the heart.

If she could have any superpower, she would choose the ability to fly to Heaven to see her mom and other family members and have the chance to talk with them again. ❤️

🌲 FUN FACT ABOUT KAYLA

Kayla and Kevin share a love for the outdoors and staying active together. You can often find them hunting, kayaking, fishing, or hiking and enjoying everything nature has to offer.

During the colder winter months, Kayla trades some of her outdoor adventures for arts and crafts. She enjoys using her Cricut to create decals and stickers and also loves spending time baking and cooking. Whether it’s summer or winter, Kayla always finds something she enjoys doing!

🌽❤️ A HUGE THANK YOU FROM SKYWAY! ❤️🌽

We want to personally thank everyone who came out and supported our Annual Corn Roast this past weekend. Once again, our Skyway community came together for an incredible cause, and we couldn’t be more appreciative of everyone who helped make the evening a success.

Whether you came out to enjoy the food, participated in the Chili Cook-Off, worked the hot dog stand, sold raffle tickets, helped roast the corn, donated baked goods, purchased something from the bake sale, or simply made a donation — every single one of you played a part.

Because of your generosity and support, we raised an incredible $1,020.00 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital! ❤️
(This is double from last year!!!!)

An event like this doesn’t happen because of just one or two people. It takes a lot of helping hands, and we want everyone who contributed in any way to know how much your time, hard work, and generosity are appreciated.

Thank you to our staff, seasonals, guests, volunteers, and everyone who donated. We truly could not have done it without all of you.

🧁 We still have baked goodies available in the Skyway Store throughout the week — 2 for $1, cash only.
All proceeds will continue to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Guy Capizzi Jr., one of our hardworking Groundskeepers here at Skyway Camping Resort!

🏕️ Position: Groundskeeper
⏰ Time at Skyway: 4 Years
📍 Hometown: Elmwood Park, New Jersey

Guy’s story at Skyway actually began long before he became an employee! Eight years ago, Guy’s parents decided to make Skyway their seasonal home, which is how Guy was first introduced to the Skyway community. After spending several years here as a seasonal with his parents, an opportunity came along when Skyway needed some extra help. Guy decided to take the plunge and join the team as a Groundskeeper — and four years later, he’s still here! What started as an opportunity to lend a hand has turned into years of learning new skills, taking on new challenges, and becoming an important part of the Skyway team.

Guy is someone you can find lending a hand wherever he’s needed. He spends countless hours helping maintain our campground, assists with the upkeep of the pool and hot tub, and even pitches in to help clean and refresh our rental properties so they’re ready and welcoming for the next family to arrive. Whether it’s part of his everyday responsibilities or simply an extra hand that’s needed, Guy is always willing to jump in and help keep Skyway looking its best!

When asked what he enjoys most about working here, his answer was simple — Freedom.

For Guy, that freedom means being trusted to get the job done, whether he’s working alongside his coworkers or independently. He also values having the freedom to learn, take on new challenges, and build new skills. Over his four years at Skyway, Guy has learned so much and continues to grow his skills along the way — something he truly appreciates about being part of the Skyway team.

🏊 Favorite Place at Skyway: The pool! During the summertime, Guy enjoys playing pool volleyball with our seasonals and guests. It’s one of his favorite ways to have some fun and enjoy the people who make Skyway such a special place.

💭 Favorite Skyway Memory: The pool parties over the years! They’ve given Guy plenty of great memories with coworkers, seasonals, and guests.

⚡ If Guy Could Have One Superpower: Super speed! We have a feeling that could come in pretty handy as a Groundskeeper around here!

Guy once ate hibachi with Don Mattingly! For anyone who may not know, Don Mattingly is a former Major League Baseball star and now interim manager for the Phillies. Talk about a pretty cool dinner companion!
