Imma rant here for just a minute...for those of you who sell your livestock, maybe you can relate.....
I am TIRED of dealing with folks who contact me and say they want a sheep, then text me half a dozen times to set up appts. to come by and see what I have, then want to come during hours I'm not open, or are late for their appt, or don't show up at all.

Each time this happens, I have had to isolate the sheep they have picked out, make sure it doesn't get stressed, plenty of food and water, and then wait....and wait...and wait...only to get a text (at best) saying they've had an "emergency" or "something came up" or they can't pick up today so need yet another date set.

I am culling my buyers, just like I cull my sheep. I can excuse 1 time but the second time cuts the ties for any future dealings with this buyer and I make a note in my phone as part of their contact info not to deal with them again.

Anyone else relate?

PAW PAW UPDATE- After tomorrow, we will be done with taking appointments for pawpaw pickin' at the Farm.

The foragers have cleaned us out with almost 100 pawpaws picked! There are only a handful left and those will be gone by tomorrow.

However, we still have lots of pawpaw plants left and are happy to share! They range in size from 3'-20'.
Any size is $10. You bring your shovel and something to put the rootball in and knock yourself out. We have more trees than we know what to do with so thinning out our patch is a good thing!

Weekdays by appt only for the rest of September!

Still have 2 camp sites available for this Labor Day weekend. Tents, Class B and Cs welcome. Class A under 30' welcome.

Dog-friendly area, 23-acre private farm property, picnic table, fire ring and porta potty. $25/night, Greensboro, NC.

Petting zoo and farm store open on weekends from 10-4 to visit our sheep, donkeys, rabbits, geese, guinea pigs, chickens and turkey. Free admission, critter feed $1, visits in the sheep barnyard $10/half an hour.

***UPDATE*****The group of 3 foragers just left and spent about an hour back there and showed me their harvest of about 40-50 pawpaws they picked that were ripe. They said there were more back there that are still ripening. I had my first pawpaw just now and it was very good! Sweeter than I thought it would be, and very fruity aroma when I first cut it open.

$10 will get you a 5-gallon bucket in case you hit the honey-hole! But it's a win-win because I am offering to refund your $10 if you come back empty-handed, OR give you any size pawpaw tree/bush you want to dig up to take home and grow your own!

Photo shows some I did see yesterday during the short hike and while most of the trees are NOT bearing fruit, it's up to the forager to find the ones that are!

To make your appt to either forage or dig up your own pawpaw plant, contact us. Appts will be weekdays only. Bring your own shovel and container and happy pawpaw pickin!

Had a same-day booking for a Hipcamper today who was bringing her dog. We allow dogs in the camping area and have a nice 1.5 acre lot where owners and their dog can explore off-leash.

In between campers, I use this area for my sheep to graze. This area also has beautiful woods with a creek and is the area where Triad Glamping Co.has their huge tent set up for glampers.

Before the camper arrived, I hurried down to the bottom of the field to get the sheep ready to move out of this area and into their larger pasture. Although the crossing was out of the sheep's sight, they respond really well to the command "Let's Go!" It takes about 10 minutes to get the orange fencing up and gates open, and the actual crossing takes less than a minute!

In addition to all the other services we offer the community: petting zoo, educational tours, Bed & Breakfast, farm store, camping and party venue, we have added yet one more item: Personal Vehicle Storage.

We have an empty field with 10x30 spaces ready to store autos, boats and RVs on a month-to-month basis. Rent directly from us or through Neighbor.com if you want to take advantage of their protection insurance and slightly lower rate.
